If your employer normally provides your shoes and they're part of a required uniform, then yes, they're required to. Otherwise, it's an OSHA violation.

SFC are ghetto BTW. I used to wear those at Domino's, and the only reason I did is because my boss bought them for me. I did like the fact that they were laceless though... easy to slip on, slip off, and drive in.

Is it usually the responsibility of bosses to provide shoes? I'd get them myself if I needed them that bad and it was such a hazzard.

Well it seems like having to go through the company in order to get your necessary attire IS the hard way. Over here you're responsible to get your own uniform excluding things like tops and such with the company name on them. I wish my work gave money for my corporate clothing that I have to wear. Unfortunately if I don't wear it its the fault of my own.

would it just be cheaper to buy some on your own accord?
  • ☆Kathar... xxx 2012/07/30 06:45:26

Yes it would but I would get in trouble. I could get fired for doing so

Whoa! That's a bit extreme. Fired for providing yourself with safety? Maybe if would be easier just to keep having your foot slip out of that shoe. Who knows? Maybe you'll be lucky and get injured and can sue for the their negligence =)

Some bosses do provide to make sure that employees are in safety compliance. In that situation, they're required to replace shoes that are in poor repair.
