It's called politeness and emotional intelligence. From my experiences, rarely ever do those with high E.Q. resort to harsh insults and name-calling. As long as you don't get too emotional and dramatic, you could strike up a conversation with anyone. Their ideals, opinion and belief are irrelevant. Their mannerism do count, though.

Yeah it's called debating when you disagree calmly for an extended period. It's arguing when you debate loudly for the same period of time.

After this week I have to admit that with some of the people here on Soda Head it isn't possible to amicably disagree without them resorting to cheap and childish personal attacks. It's sad that some people are so abusive to others simply for not agreeing with thier own personal views.

It's usually unlikely for someone to be nice, while telling someone they disagree with them. It happens to me, no matter how nice i try to while telling someone i disagree, it always starts an argument. Or, it's in a rude way.

Yes it is, you just have to phrase what you're saying semi-nicely and not jump down the other person's throat lol.

Unfortunately, a lot of people see red when someone disagrees with them, and after that, they don't care what kind of hurtful things come out of their mouths. It's about maturity, and yes, good manners.

Adults aren't always all that mature either. That becomes abundantly clear if you answer very many questions here on Soda Head. It's unreal how some people seem to just lash out with hostility just to for the sake of causing confrontation.

Absolutely. You can have a civil discussion about the issues without hostility. It would be so very boring if we all thought the same about everything. Vive la difference!

And also, sometimes we learn the most from those who think differently that we do.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, IF they're rude then they are obviously emotionally attached to that decision or idea. it depends on how you feel. whether it's harsh or a friendly idea

By avoiding rudeness, the argument becomes more valid. The rude person come off sounding ignorant.

yes...In life, it is always good to have good manners. Also I believe it is how your phrase your sentences, the words your use and also (if face-to-face) the tone of your voice and your expression / body language.

Nah. You just have to be kind with it laddie. You don't have to include a billion curse words in every non-agreeing argument. Though we Irish do tend to that a lot, so being rude goes hand in hand with us XD.

Most people aren't stupid and know when you disagree with them. If you don't want their feelings hurt, choose your words carefully.
