Is It Possible To Be Racist If You're Not White?

Ok so, no joke, this girl in one of my classes actually said, "Only white people are racist". I thought she was kidding, but she really got mad when I suggested so.

Now am I wrong for thinking that, however wrong racism is, it can still be practiced by anyone, whether they are white, black, or purple with yellow polka dots? Or was this girl just wrong?

I'm not trying to talk down blacks, but it is possible to be racist if your not white.Im sure their are just as much black racists as their are whites.

Sorry I clicked the wrong one. Of course it's entirely possible for a non-white person to be racist. Anyone ever heard of the film White Man's Burden? It depends on which ethnicity holds all the power and is the majority in any country. There's discrimination and then there's reverse or counter-discrimination.

At one time I didn't see color, color of a human being meant nothing to me, nothing at all. My eyes were opened to that by those of color. They actually showed me how nasty people can be to one another by not only color but also by religion as well.

White individuals have a social privilege that those of other races/colors (which ever you prefer) do not (at least in western countries), but that does not mean they are the only ones that will judge another person, negatively or not, based off the color of their skin.

Didn't you know only white people are racist every other race in the word is just very proud. For example because I know there Is more than just black and white but... Black power is a pride thing. White power is a racist thing. Any body can be racist. Racism has no color boundaries

I think this can be a very touchy subject and i dont want to affend anybody but I do thinkthat other colors of people are always saying how white people are racist but they can be just as mean.

Racism is a covert, systematic institution, used to oppress, denigrate and exploit one group of people by another based solely upon the concept of racial superiority.

While related, it is not the same thing as bigotry, prejudice, or discrimination.

Anyone, of any color, can be a bigot; they can have prejudgements and they can discriminate against others based upon those feelings.

However it takes monetary resources and power to be a racist.

Most average people have little of either.

Race Power= racism...... gotcha. Me sitting on my couch saying I hate white people makes me just an Idiot sitting around being prejudice. But the head of a major corporation regardless of his ethnic origin saying "I don't like Blacks and Mexicans and I'm won't hire them" that would affect our status so that in a way is Racism?

So YES it is POSSIBLE
