Call me old fashioned, but I don't think cell phones should be allowed to be ON in class, most less used in class. It should be against the rules much as not passing was "in my day."

You can do it if you want, I don't care. No one should stop you but it's probably not wise.

I was gonna say no, it is not okay. And yeah, I'm agreeing with that, you're right cause it's class, you're supposed to listen, but if there's an emergency I'm going to want someone to know. Depending on the emergency, really. But I guess if there was an emergency I'd call someone instead of txting... does this still count as 'only in an emergency?'

During an emergency is a given. But there is no reason aside from that, that these kids need to have their phones out. I have a friend who taught HS & he had a student that he would tell on a regular basis to put her phone away. On his final warning to her he said "the next time I see you with that phone in my class I'm breaking it." Long story short, he broke & had to replace it but says it was worth it all, she never bought the phone out again.

    Another question could be:

Is it ok to be watching a movie on your IPAD during class? The answer is no to both questions. You aren't in the class to watch your own personal movie ot to text. You are there to listen to what the prof is teaching.

Yes because in case of an emergency, say if I had a heart attack during class, the first thing I would do is start texting. If a bunch of morons started Columbine 2.0 the first thing I would do is start texting. If a guy with a beard and a turban says he has a bomb, the first thing I do is start texting. If I break a nail, the first thing I do is start texting. Who the hell texts during emergencies?

Why are the students using their cell phones in class in the first place? (I put in the wrong choice. Meant to put in the "no" answer) During class time the phone's should be turned off. When class time is finished and you're headed to your next class then talk all you want then. But turn em off during class periods. You're supposed to be there to learn. Not yack on the phone all day.

Texting has always been banned in school, but everyone does it anyway. There is no way you could stop teenagers texting! Not any more anyway.

They are red hot on phones at exam time. If you're caught with a phone it is an automatic fail.

My mom texted me during class once.
I take that as a emergency cuz I know she does not do that To me. She wouldnt want to disturb her child being education.
Texting gets our mind off of the topic and makes us lose our concentration. Won't help us with anything but get more drama and karma in our life cuz texting is another communication that can spread rumors.
    No for texting during class

Texting, other than for an emergency (and I don't mean your nail polish got chipped) would be the only time it should be allowed. You're in class to learn, not to text. I'm sure nothing is so important it can't wait until lunch or a free period.
