Call me old fashioned, but I don't think cell phones should be allowed to be ON in class, most less used in class. It should be against the rules much as not passing was "in my day."

Yes

Well, I know from experience that I work best with more things going on. I had a teacher that let us have our phones out, and I aced his class. However, I do worse in the classes where I don't have the distraction to keep my mind from getting bored. It might be because I have tourretes and PTSD, I dunno.

As a college student I can say one conversation can cost you half a class of info.

I can confirm this. Same with being on a laptop. I almost failed computer science because I had my laptop open.

I think the kids saying "yes" are mostly middle school/high school students, where in high school, in most classes, its easy to take naps and not miss things.
