Is It OK to Have Booze at Disneyworld?

Disneyworld doesn't really strike us as the kind of place to swing back a few beers... but soon, the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida will feature a new restaurant that will serve both beer and wine. The new restaurant's name will be "Be Our Guest" (after the popular "Beauty and the Beast" song) and it will be French-themed.

And as Maribeth Bisienere, the vice president of food and beverage for Walt Disney Parks, puts it “You cannot walk into a French restaurant and not get a glass of wine or beer... It made more sense to do it than not to do it." Do you think it's OK to have beer and wine at a children's theme park?

TODAYTRAVEL.TODAY.COM reports:
Be our guest, be our guest, put our sommelier to the test? Starting this November, visitors to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Orlando may be tempted to rework the popular song from "Beauty and the Beast" when the park opens its newest dining venue, the French-themed Be Our Guest restaurant.

The Disney theme Parks were never meant to be only for children. Disneyland's Blue Bayou restaurant has been serving alcohol for decades.

Do you really think adults are going to go to Disney to get drunk - a drink or two at dinner is no big deal.

Yes, well, if you can't go to Disney ONE DAY without a drink, then you have a problem.

People have been going for many years without a drink, obviously. One restaurant serving drinks is not a big deal though. The adults are on vacation too, you know?

And? The point is still that people can go one day with their children without a damn drink.

The point is it's really none of your damn business if an adult has a drink.

Maybe not. But this is a damn question asking for my damn opinion so I damn well gave it.

And who the hell are you to say what is or isn't my business? Maybe if I'm taking my kids to Disneyworld, I don't want them around your wasted ass. In that case, it would be my business.

Ha Ha, my wasted ass?!? You don't even know me so zip it. I don't know of anyone who wants to go to Disney to get wasted. You sound about as fun as a root canal.

I don't know of anyone who goes to Disneyland to get a beer. And you sound as dumb as a bag of hammers. Anyway, it's been fun. Bye!

Why should an adult have to go without a drink if s/he doesn't want to? Enjoying a drink doesn't mean one has a problem.

So having a drink at a theme park=alcoholic? You have some very skewed views on responsible drinking.

Not everyone that goes to Disney brings kids with them. I've been there many times without any kids.

I took my kids there recently, and there were a few people who looked like they really needed a drink.

The Bible Belt is anything but puritanical. We're just as wild down here as anywhere else. Trust me. The point is, it wouldn't hurt to have just ONE place where people can go with their children without alcohol being offered.
