Sure. The one time in my entire life I was involved in a proposal it was my (then) gf proposing to me. I declined. I had valid reasons not to. I was a wild, dumb kid in my early twenties (at the time) and I wouldn't have made a good husband at all. She deserved a lot better than the man I was.

I personally would not do it but why nottt?

It all depends...on the situation and her.. he is shy, been dating a long time and you feel spinsterhood is almost upon you, you r afraid someone else will claim him or woe him away. he's a wuss, or not that into you. you belittle yourself n don't think you can do better. your parents r pushing you. his parents r pushing you. you think the sex is great n you better get him before someone else finds out how great he is. he has alot of money..and so on and so on......my suggestion...if you find a guy you like and decide to start dating. talk..talk about what you both hope to accomplish during your dating time.Yes girl..it's ok to ask a guy in the beginning what his intentions are..if he doesn't say anything like." to get to know you to see if we both fall in love and r compatible to marry later on."If the idea of someday perhaps marrying you is out of the question. Find someone else with serious intentions. Unless you don't mind being somebodies Barbie for a while!

but after, i'd like him and me to tell my dad.my father would be happy to be the first to know.

I think it smacks of desperation and the likelihood of him actually going through with it is pretty slim, but have at it, girl!

Could be, but I think that would be a rare thing. Hopefully, it will be a more normal occurrence, but in the majority of cases, it is just a girl desperate to get married to a man who will never ask and is not interested in marriage.

Its a free country and if SHE wants it bad enough why not.

It's a girl's job to play mind games and pressure the guy, and it's a guy's job to explore the escape route and decide which turn to take. If chicks start proposing out of the blue, the suicide rate will jump up, and the asylums will get overfilled :P

But seriously, what's with all the feminism? Seems like people are taking this "equality" thing a little far. Men and women should be equal. But who said they should be the same?

It's not about the rights at all. I'm not sure about the rights in your state, but I'm sure you have the right to dress up like a huge chicken and run around screaming "I'm the messiah". I'm sure it's at least not forbidden. But would you do that? Just because you can?

Well, with the whole feminism burst, it only led to tons of women doing ridiculous stuff just because they can. To prove a point or whatever. Now, I'm sure there are women out there who truly, genuinely wanted to be truck drivers, lumberjacks or whatever other jobs that are considered manly and require a lot of physical strength. But that's what, 0.5%?
And yet, tons of women took those jobs, specifically because they're manly. The same women started walking like men, stopped shaving their pits, burned their bras and started burping and spitting, because that's what men do. And may I say, they look damn ridiculous.
Now, personally, I wanna hang out with a woman who's equal to me but in her own way. I wouldn't get close to a woman who's more like a man than a woman though, and I'm sure most guys will back me up on this one.

Men and women are two equally important gears of the same machine. But they're not the same. Women shouldn't be truck drivers, unless it's really what they wanna do. As much as men shouldn't be baby sitters or fashion designers, unless they have a sense to it and they want to.

Right, anyone can do anything they want to do. And if a woman asked the man to marry he can say no. I would never even think of being a truck driver. And I am one that believes if a woman wants children she should be able to stay at home and raise them isntead of handing them off to people that do not love and care for them in the same manner as she would. But it's their decision. There are no rules, only in peoples minds. Unless you want to hand that power over to the tyranical government too!!

Obviously. And that's why I'm always for total freedom. Now, if a woman wants to propose, who am I to say anything against? But hell, I wouldn't like a woman proposing to me. Plus, most proposals were influenced by the woman anyway. It's just sort of a game people do. Now, if some women want to take the guys' part in the game, good luck to them. It's just hella weird to my taste.

Well I personally wouldn't want to do the proposing either. But if a woman feels confident enough to, go for it! I don't even believe in marriage anymore, so I really could care less! LOL!
