First, a 6yr old doesn't need to hear that kind of language, let alone from a parent/role model figure. Second, regardless of how annoying she is, he needs love and wants attention/answers, telling her to f-off is only going to tell her she's not important and that you don't love her.

Not that I can think of, even if she says it to you....

Anyone that doesn't say no should be examined.

    maybe....please explain
    Outta' Here.
Perhaps. Is the child not being watched by her parents and annoying that mean and nasty single patron (ME) in the corner, who is trying to have a quiet breakfast; and instead being berated by some strangers' little brat?

If you don't want people to speak to your children like this, make your children MIND and stay WITH you when you are out in public. Not everyone likes children. Not everyone HAS children and thus sees no valid reason in RAISING your child.

What did the little girl do that would make someone want to tell the kid to @#$% off in the first place? Must have been something rotten.

Just plain no, you where correct in coming unscrewed, but I must say IF your child was being so exasperating as to elicit such a outburst from a "somewhat normal" adult you should come equally unhinged at your child, AND seriously examine your parenting skills. I am glad I read some of your responses otherwise I would never have guessed your REAL question. I have met kids that would try the restraint of any one I usually find that the parent should be issued the Darwin Award to prevent the corruption of the gene pool any further, rather than the anger at the child. I do not know the circumstance of the outburst or any of the party's involved so I am casting no blame or shadow on you, but I would both examine my association with this "adult?" and the circumstance of the occurrence to see if there might be a lesson here,,,,somewhere.

food was dropped on the floor, the kid in question said "mommy doesn't have to clean that up, you do" and yes she was in trouble for speaking to an adult like that

Thank you for the clarity, and I an glad you see fault on the child's part and I hope you question the need to be around this other person - what a mouth.

Hhhhmmm.... sounds to me like she might have been repeating something that was told to her by her mother and she then repeated to the adult to tell the adult to clean up her own mess. I don't think the kid actually meant to be rude so in this case, no, I don't believe the kid should have been cursed at. However, most of the time they are really rude and screaming little monsters, hence my assumption that the kid probably deserved it. My bad.

your a dumb ass for even coming up with that stupid question. That is what is wrong with our kids today. Stupid people saying inappropriate things to kids.

Just for the sheer clarification of it...Someone said it to MY child and I came un frikin glued on them. I was then told by the same person that it wasn't that big of a deal as they talk like that to everyone. So the point of the question was to see if people agreed with me or not! But hey, thanks for the snap judgment!

If she's a wretched little street urchin working her way up to street whore and poses a danger to others, yes. That's probably the only way to communicate "Stop it!" to her. I blame the "parents" of course, but still...

It's bad to be in a place that acknowledges how horrible parenting can be in this world? As a teacher, my sister has had 3rd graders threaten to kill her. Another friend and teacher has had 4th grade black kids call her a "white bitch."

Sorry reality doesn't suit you, but it's still reality.

Reality is that you're supposed to be the adult. You find a more appropriate way to speak to children.

No. Sorry people but I am sick and tired of foul mouthed mothers talking to their daughters like this. I live next door to a woman with a 3 year old and every other word out of here mouth is F this and F that. Welfare mom with a crack problem.
Gee, guess who's paying her bills?
I, for one, am sick and tired of out of control language. No one has respect for anyone anymore. There is a time and place for everything, but in front of a child is just wrong.

Again, with the snap judgments, why assume it was her mother that said it? I am her mother and it was said to my daughter which I then freaked out. I was then told it was no big deal, so I posted the question to see what others thought

I meant your assumption on this question, that it was the child in questions mother, i understand the situation you are in is in fact with the childs mother, this however isn't
