If your walking by on the street and they have the main door open and you can see in by the screen door..why not? I wouldn't advise going up on the porch to look in though, lol. Same goes for windows that are lit up from within at night. It's hard not to look really.

If i am on the street and can see in with my naked eye while just looking around and you don't want that, then close the blinds.
If i'm in the yard, or on a ladder, or have a telescope, then yes its a purposeful invasion.

If that house has its curtains/windows open, I can't see any harm in a glance in going by. On the other hand, if someone is just stalking outside staring in, then there is something definitely wrong with that.

I answered that it is ok to look, but only if the curtains/blinds are open.

I guess I mean that if you can see inside the home then the owners shouldn't mind...If they do mind it's on them to close up the blinds.

From a look-ee's point of view, I'd say sure.. just don't stare or make funny faces.

From a look-or's point of view, I'd say no, I don't feel right doing it. Though I will peek. So, I guess I'm a peek-ee?

That's us..we always keep our blinds down at night since our house is so close to the road. During the day we keep them open though.

In Great Britain, and even in Colonial America, peeping toms got put into stocks for that. I agree. My home is not their business.

Looking into a home from the street, only becomes creepy if a person is consistently looking into that particular house. If one has binoculars or something, that could be an issue for concern. :)

When driving by a nice home with a pretty yard it's hard not to look.Must even a yard that looks very unkept and a home that is falling apart turns an eye in disgust.

A glance in as you are passing is normal, but is the responsibility of the home owner to do what's needed for their own privacy ...I have Venetian blinds and we can position them for all the privacy I need....

Unless it's something obviously meant to be a public display, it's not polite to stare. Imagine if the homeowner were to arrive and see you looking--if you would be embarrassed at getting caught in the act of whatever you're doing, you're probably being rude.

In a person's private residence they should have a reasonable expectation of privacy but its almost impossible not to see in some homes because the window size or closeness to the street so you really cant avoid it at times, I dont know if its ethical or not so people just need to use curtains or blinds if they dont want people seeing in their home.

If I'm standing on public property like the street, then I see nothing wrong with it. I always look around while I walk.
Windows work both ways, they can look at me walking on the street too. I wouldn't mind.

It depends how close you are. If you are passing by and not trespassing on private property, I think it's ok, but to go right to their windows and peep etc., that's both wrong and illegal...
