Love me, love my pet. That's how women feel, according to new research showing that a woman is happier in her relationship when her partner feels the same way about her pet as she does, LiveScience reports.

So if she's totally crazy about her little furball, guys, you had better be, too. But dudes, on the contrary, don't really seem to care if their girlfriends dig their pets. "Either they're unaware or they don't care," study researcher Kristen Capuozzo, a doctoral candidate at the University of Houston, told LiveScience. "It doesn't matter to them."

However, if a guy is TOO close to his own pet, it might work against him in the dating department: When a woman believes that a man is closer to a pet than she is, "She kind of gets jealous," Capuozzo told LiveScience. Yup, guys, it's true what they say: you can't win. However, men who had close relationships with their pets were happier in their relationship as well.

We've had our pesky cat allergy get in the way of more than one relationship, leading us to believe that a person's feeling about pets is truly a dating dealbreaker. Is it that way for you? Or are you willing to put the person ahead of your pet?

I would never date someone that doesn't like my pets. Hell, I wouldn't even date someone with a bad attitude towards any animal, be it a stray dog or a fly.

If my partner didn't like animals, that would be a dealbreaker.

Luckily I have a wonderful man in my life, who cares for animals at least as much as I do. We have a cat and a dog, who we love to bits!

No and here's why... if you don't like the pet okay we can work around that I won't force you to hold, fed, water, play with said pet.... and you won't nag, bitch or mistreat the pet... if you can just ignor the animal then fine its up to you do say if the pet is a deal breaker to decide you like me enough want a relationship enough to be willing to accept if not like/love the pet cuz guess what I woudl bet I will and you will have family members we don't like too but if we are to have a relationship we will have to learn to work around those issues... so the pet isn't teh deal maker/breaker its teh aditude.

If I had a dog, a cat, or a horse, whatever my pet would be, I'd love 'em so much, I wouldn't let anyone "be mine" if they don't treat him or her with kindness. Animals ROCK!

I do not like my husband's cat and he does not like my dog. We are married and perfectly happy. I am a dog person, he is a cat person. Life goes on. I knew when we were dating there was this slight disagreement and I am happy I married him! There is more to a person than their opinion on pets.

i dont think its a "dealbreaker". it can help but it doesnt seal the deal. also if someone is way attatched to their pet i wont get jealous id just find it strange and weird.

My pets mean more to me than anything, you don't have be in love with then but your sure as he'll gonna deal with them, and not be mean or else BYE BYE. :)

I don't think I could date someone with pets. For me, living with animals has been a nightmare. They're noisy, messy, and smelly. Three things I can't stand. I also can't stand people who act like their pets are their kids. Creeeeeepy... :P

My mom isn't a pet person either. She's like 'As long as they keep their distances and don't jump on me, it's okay but if they're the touchy feeling kind, I'm done.'

She also think they're stinkies...but the she thinks people are too lol.

There is no way I would ever date someone in the first place if they didn't love dogs and feel about them the same way I do! No way. Never. Not in my lifetime.
