If you thought celebrities were the ones giving their newborns crazy names, think again! One couple has named their newborn baby daughter... "Hashtag." Like, the icon (#) you use on Twitter to post about trending topics. The mother reportedly posted the below photo on Facebook of her new baby girl with the caption: “Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys 8pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!”

Surprisingly, this isn't the first time parents have named their children after timely, tech-oriented things. In February 2011, an Egyptian man named his daughter "Facebook," due to the role the social networking site played in the Arab Spring. In Israel, another married couple named their little girl "Like" when she was born in May 2011. Be honest: Do you think "Hashtag" is a good name for a baby? Or is this the beginning of the end as far as baby names go?

Events like this are why we believe the Mayan Apocalypse on Dec. 21 is truly coming, as this is what humans have come to. In a nod to an apparent crazed social media obsession, parents have named their baby daughter Hashtag.

I just really hope the mom named her kid "Hailey" or "Hannah" or "Harper" or something and the auto correct changed it to "Hashtag". I really hope so, that poor child.

People have come up with stupid names since forever. Its terrible, but its hardly a indicator of anything. Also, you have to excuse the names in foreign countries: It could very easily sounds like something completely different in that tongue. Theres a pretty good chance that theres a large list of nouns in foreign tounges that sound like legitimate names in English. Heck, I bet a lot of them are not unheard of English names.

Idiots have always named their offspring weirdly for the times. Like, "River" Phoenix, for example, or other "nature" names for environmentalists. I, for one, can speak on behalf of the so named offspring.

Phoenix was his stage name and a mass improvement on Bottom and I think River is a beautiful name but hey that's just me

Kids can and will be cruel.

Name? So what. A bully will be a bully and it doesn't have to be based on name.
If it's not your name, it your activities.
If it's not your activities, it'll be how rich/poor you are.
If it's not that, it will ALWAYS be something.

There will be those kids who will spend quite some time thinking of how to demean others and there is almost no one that can stop their bullying. Almost, because the parents have to give a damn to be able to stop it.
