According to TakePart.com, state fair foods are reaching new levels of golden brown and delicious. From deep-fried butter to Kool-Aid, just about everything on the menu is getting the fried treatment. The days of corn dogs are certainly out, being replaced by more sought-after fare, emerging from the hot caldron of bubbly oil.

Self control people. Self control. Take responsibility for yourself. That includes what you put in your mouth. You can't blame someone else if you've picked up a bottle of poison and drank it (mind you it's labelled in huge writing with a hazard sign). Same goes for food.

Eat what you want to you throw up and then eat some more. Gov't already making us do this and do that (i.e. seat belts, etc),,, If I want to eat deep fried butter, by jove, I'm gonna eat deep fried butter.. they can kiss my rear end. Why don't they go worry about crystal methamphetamine and that new stuff that makes you eat people alive and leave me and my chocolate covered bacon the hell alone :)

But I'm concerned that people like it, and that too many people eat like that every day.

Darn Tooting people like it, or they wouldn't sell it! But, here in Indiana, the fair comes around once a year. I don't want ya fretting about all us good folk from the Land of Big People eating ourselves into an early grave.... it's an occasional little treat :)

It's the one time of the year when you can go all out. Just eat a salad for lunch or something to balance out that deep-fried Snickers bar. Or not. Have fun, it's Fair day.

Signed, someone who ate two different deep-fried candy bars just to see how they tasted, along with a slice of pizza.

Most people dont go to fairs every day of their lives, its like going out for icecream. People need to mind their own business and stop blaming the food and instead blame the lack of physical activity most folks are not doing.

I don't see a problem with it. It's just food. If people eat too much of it and their heart pops open like an elderly prostate then too damn bad, they brought it on themselves. I'll eat my deep-fried oreos in peace, thank you very much.

They're allowed to sell what they want.

We KNOW it's bad for us, and it's up to US to get what WE want or ignore what WE don't want.

But that aside... who the hell would buy deep-fried BUTTER anyway? I'm curious to see if anyone would actually get THAT... the bacon, yeah, but butter??? Ugh..

While it is about self control, temptation is also a huge factor. Just the idea of making this kind of food is revolting.

    ABSOLUTELY.

That the "NO" response (402) is 59% to the "YES" response's (282) 41% (at this writing) tell me volumes about the OBESITY EPIDEMIC in this country.

Someone please tell me how a DEEP-FRIED STICK O" BUTTER ON A STICK (real State Fair food item) isn't "going too far?"

Well, I've never been to a state fair aha..but I honestly think some of this stuff was like meant as a joke. They probably didn't think anyone would actually order that mess and eat it.

Here, in the south, we still have not run out of things to fry. If it's edible, we'll fry it. If it isn't edible, it soon will be.

I have to add one caveat to this. My daughter bought herself one of those fried snicker bars at the state fair, one year, and I did try a bite of it and....well....let's just say that it tasted SO good that I vowed never to try it again. It was like deep-fried chocolate heroin. LOL

That's just part of going to the fair. Nobody is forcing you to eat it, other people like to eat that crap JUST at the fair. One or two days of super bad food won't kill you!
