Is diet soda healthier than regular soda?

Kelllzerz December 30, 2008 21:53:37

Diet soda and regular soda have been in competition for quite awhile now, but one thing is for sure, both drinks cannot replace the necessary daily nutrients needed. Diet soda may have fewer calories than regular soda, but it doesn't mean it can't lead to weight gain, also the chemical used in diet soda "Aspartame" is 180 times more sweeter than sugar. The FDA says that the sweetener is safe, but reported side effects include dizziness, headaches, diarrhea, memory loss, and mood changes.

Do you think diet soda is healthier than regular soda?

Water is much healthier depending on where your water comes from. People who are unfortunate to have city water about anything is healthier. As far as myself I live in the country and have the most wonderful well water in the world. As far as buying your water buy distilled you will be amazed especially if you are turning gray, give this about 3 months and you will notice the gray is going away. I am recovering 7th day advent and although I think organized religions are cults, 7th days have the longest lives. Just do the research!

I don't think either diet or non-diet soda is good for anyone. I don't drink soda, but my kids were always trying to get me to buy it. I prefer Crystal Light and now that my kids are used to it, they prefer drinking it instead of pop.

Neither are good for you. Both are full of chemicals, toxins, and terrible crap your body never did and never will be able to handle well.

Do yourself a favor, put yourself on a restricted junk food intake program. Allow yourself to eat it every once in a while, but soda should be a once or twice a week thing.

For every can of soda, drink 3 glasses of water. That's the rule.

There's a line of practicality. It has to be established somewhere. Soda isn't going away anytime soon, so we can only move to reduce it's consumption and try to inform the decisions of others in drinking the product.

soda has no nutritional benefits for you in the first place. Diet soda has splenda in it. Splenda is worse for you than regular sugar. it is overly processed and it leaves you unsatisfied wanting more, and there have been links to splenda and cancer.

I'm not sure. The most recent studies seem to have have debunked the cancer-aspartame link. The caffeine in any cola soda isn't good for you, but then again a can of cola contains less caffeine than a cup of coffee. I'm a Diet Coke addict, but I'm not really comfortable with that. I'd like to cut it out of my diet and switch to good old spring water instead.

neither are very good for u..I am diabetic so very, very seldom have a regular soda but if I do need the very occasional fizzy drink I do Coke (I used to drink them every day all day) which is my favorite... If I do a soda now it is a diet.... I do diet 7-up..but really and truly I seldom drink either..I prefer regular H2O or the flavored sweetened with Splenda.....

They are both the same, all that sugar, is not good for you.People think that it is healthy because it have 0 calories, WRONG!!! The best flavor drink you can have are natural drink with no sugar added, plus always i mean, always drink plenty of water. Then if you do your research you will find that artificial sugar are not good for you, they lead to cancer. drink sugar drink plenty water research artificial sugar lead cancer

No, Diet soda is not healthier than regular.

Diet sodas trade sugar for salt.

I took a nutrition class in college, and we had to write down every single thing we put into our bodies for two weeks. Everyone that had soda, diet or regular had it circled in red with a note saying "empty calories"

Everyone that drank Dr. Pepper had nothing. It apparently has 100% natural flavors and sugars which the body breaks down relatively easy compared to what you get from other soft drinks.
