It seems like every summer, we hear about the latest deep-fried something, whether it’s Twinkies, Oreos or Kool Aid. Well, this summer, it’s … cereal. That's right: deep-fried cereal -- made with Trix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch -- has made its debut at the San Diego fair this month.
The “breakfast” -- or should we call it dessert? -- is drizzled with syrup and topped with a few pieces of cereal. And so far, it’s not exactly a big hit. "Now, when I was trying the deep-fried Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the pool of grease in the bottom of the basket made me clutch my heart a little. The doughy ball of greasy cereal wasn't bad, but it definitely isn't something I'd go out of my way to buy,” one reviewer wrote.
The deep-fried creation du jour comes from Charlie Boghosian, owner of Chicken Charlie’s and creator of last year's deep-fried Kool Aid balls. He also serves deep-fried Girl Scout cookies at his restaurant. We don’t know about you, but we’d say Trix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are decadent enough as they are, without the extra grease. +8Why post questions like these? I mean, you know the answer. Most are going to say gross. Like the question that asked if you would eat a deep-fried pork blood Popsicle. Obviously...no.
