I muss the carolers coming around on Christmas Eve. I also miss Santa sitting upon the firetruck waving at the children as the truck drove up and the down the streets. Now carolers are barred from going to homes even if asked to, because of political correctness. It is a sad loss of community togetherness and the spirit of goodwill.

Definitely can't go wrong with bringing the spirit and love.
All the ones who oppose it are probably Grumpy spiritless people, who have no appreciation for that.

I just don't like them at the front door and then you have to stand in the doorway and look like an idiot for five minutes listening to them sing before you tell them you don't have any cash on you. It's a totally awkward experience.

I have been to many Nursing homes caroling and I KNOW those that are visited grasp at the chance to have the Human touch even if only for a few minutes.

Call it cheesy if you want but unless you've actually seen it in play you have no room to judge.

But this cheeriness is wholly dependent on the carolers themselves. Too shy can be just as bad as too aggressive. I was once visited by a group of carolers so shy they just stood there for a good minute before making awkward eye contact and backing off the front porch. Ah! Memories.

Why do I want to be disturbed to listen to a bunch of idiots singing carols badly, and then have to pay them money? Even if it's 'for fun' it's a ridiculous tradition and I will be locking iron gates outside of my house to keep them out. And apparently it's considered 'rude' to slam the door in their faces?

I think spitting stupid vitriol at ones neighbors for doing something innocuous and definitely cheerful is cheesy, far far cheesier than christmas caroling. I mean, who is being beheaded or lashed or flogged or stoned to death or robbed by people who want to celebrate the birthday of their christ?

    Next dumb question?

The sad thing is that over in UK it is something that I miss . I used to love carol singing in large groups for charity ,and people were so generous . but now it just seems that our Christmas's of old are disappearing . Mariah Carey just doesn't do it for me , it has to be Oh Holy Night for it to feel like Xmas to me ....

That's better , now it feels like CHRISTMAS
