Not sure. If it is, women only have themselves to blame. The jerks get the girls and the gentlemen get ignored, so it's little wonder that many men choose to be jerks. I've lost count of how many times I've held a door open for a woman and she's turned and scowled at me like I just pissed on her kitten.

Yes. Radical feminism killed it. Isn't that nice?

I don't look anything near that and chivalry is not dead but I hope it's not bc I'm softer looking than this.

Chivalry is a sign of respect from the man for the woman. There is nothing better than when that woman hands herself over to her man. The older generation had it right. A man holds the chair, opens the door, let's the lady go first, Pays the check. The woman remains a woman. She doesn't try to be the dominant in the relationship. Before you Nazi's start screaming she knows her place-no, that's not what I said. A woman should be feminine acting because that is what she is.

Every day that I see my Girlfriend I pay when I can her dinner, her lunch, etc. I try not to let her pay even though she insists. Every day I respect her with Pride, Love, open the doors for her, treat her like a human being, etc.

    Reason: Because I love her

My boyfriend is like that, and he is such the man. He takes care of things, the door is just an incidental. I like it and I think I'm a nice person, educated and not a bad catch. I dont understand why anyone would not want to be treated with respect. It's more than pulling out a chair, etc. but these are signs in society of treating women with care and I personally like to be treated with care. I'm not a man. I'm not able to keep up with a man and I don't want to. I don't have anything to prove. I don't want to carry my own stuff. I want a man to carry it for me, even if he weighs the same as I do. My bf only weighs ten pounds more than I do even though he is five inches taller. I let him carry everything. He likes it that way. I like it too. It feels nice to me. I dated one guy who wounded let me carry in heavy stuff, pffftttt. No thanks!

My girlfriend is an inch taller then me (near each others weight), and I still help out with what ever she needs. Even at her house, I help out. When she comes over, I refuse her to help because I believe it is not right.

Because chivalry is still recognized as a good, and something to strive for ... I'd say, no, chivalry is not dead.

Some people keep it up and others don't. Some people enjoy it and others don't. Best thing for everyone to do, despite your gender, is to treat everyone you meet with respect and understanding and not expect anything in return.

See I don't expect anyone to open the door for me, but if they do, I will always smile and thank them. And if someone is behind me, I will often hold the door open for them too. I don't think anyone means any disrespect towards me by showing nice manners. It shouldn't be a one way street were men should run around showing women special attention either though, I think a little respect goes both ways. Just treat people nicely, it'll make everyone feel a bit better.

It is a sexist concept, plain and simple. I am against all sexist concepts.

What if someone only held the door for white people? It is NO different. Just a form of blatant bigotry thinly masked by societal acceptance.

It's called being polite and respectful. My husband holds the door open for me and if he has his hands full, I do the same for him or anyone else that may be coming in the door right behind me. You get what you give. You must not get much.

No, It may be greatly challenged at times but I think it will never go out of style. I certainly hope not, I think it is polite. Nothing wrong with that. If a man opens a door for me, I simply say "thank you". Easy huh? However, if a man were not at the door I guess I would just open it myself as I am most certainly capable of doing so. :)

Not quite dead, but when I do something for a woman, especially a young woman, I get a look that says "what ARE you doing? Do you not realize that I can do this on my own? Are you trying to get into my pants?" .... all that in a look.

It's a big, big dis-incentive to be chivalrous.

dead woman young woman realize pants dis-incentive chivalrous
