I was recently at a child’s 3rd birthday party and the only cake served was cheesecake. My daughter wouldn’t touch it and I thought it was a weird choice. Have you run across this and how would you feel about it?
I prefer a more traditional cake, check out some of these gorgeous cakes created by our users!

Outta' Here. 2012/07/06 18:33:23As long as it's sweet, the kids will eat.+21I was always under the impression the "cake" type was the sole choice of the "birthday boy/girl", if you don't want it; have the ice cream.

I do think it is an odd choice, but if it is my kid, and she wants cheesecake, she will get cheese cake.
I probably would have had a secondary cake for those guests that didn't want/like cheesecake, but that is just me.
Ohh, your daughter's really missing out. Just because it doesn't have gallons of fake sugary chocolate and a brick of frosting on top doesn't mean that it isn't loaded with sugar and other bad stuff....no wait, that came out wrong. ahem, cheesecake rocks!
I bet the parents who came along were thrilled, though:)
It is the child's day not yours
However, a three-year-old's party tends to be more for the parents than the children. They're old enough to request cake favours, if they think about it, but it will most likely just be the parents' choice. Third birthdays mostly invite family and family friends (and their kids). And the parents may be entertaining more adults than children.
