Unless the child doesn't like cheesecake at all.. I loved it growing up and know many kids who do too. Whatever the kid likes really.

Sure why not? I'd personally go for a low-fat recipe or not cut huge silces. A big slice can be too rich to eat.

I have it every year for my birthday. There is nothing better as far as I am concerned.

By the way, real cheese cake uses no custard. It is cream cheese and sugar. The best kind has a graham cracker crust and is topped off with a thick layer of sour cream.

Depends on what you mean by real, many cheese cakes contain eggs, but there are many variety. However - unless you are going to easy no bake route, most of them are in fact considered a custard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

To be honest, I've never made a cheese cake. My mother and sister make the greatest (to me) cheese cake. It is very solid and only about one and a half inches tall. Since I do not know all of the ingredients perhaps I shouldn't have commented as I did.

...but I'd be more likely to go with a more traditional birthday cake because a lot of kids like ice cream on the side. Plus, it's a lot of work, creaming all that cream cheese with the sugar. :O)

If that is what the Birthday boy/girl wants, then it is appropriate. :)

I personally love cheesecake ... but I didn't care for it as a child. If the kids want it, great! As long as it's not the adults choosing for themselves :)
