    I would have preferred an "other" answer. I think it works for some people, but not for everyone. My husband's dad was an alcoholic. My husband told him we would never bring our daughter to see him again unless he stopped drinking. He went cold turkey and became an amazingly loving father and grandfather at the age of 59.
