Is American PATRIOTISM Dying?

I think so and this growing lack of patriotism which is fast spreading its vicious roots in the minds of our youth and children is taking a catastrophic form and
must be taken care of.Or else the future of our country
which is bestowed with such a rich past/ heritage is
going to be in deep waters. It’s up to us, the people, to
stand up and feel proud to be a part of this nation which
has nurtured our souls and hearts.

To some Patriot is a bad word,to single out love for America is considered narrow minded and selfish,according to new age thinkers we are now children of the world.When we lose our children to this ideology we may as well hang it up,I wish I were more optimistic.

.............. I see signs of it dying, when I get replies from malcontents on my posts, I still am a Patriot, but see a lot of apathetic younger generation persons that I encounter offline, it's a shame for a young guy being more concerned about His girlfriend getting a new token of love, than following the daily news on whether We face nuclear doomsday from terrorist splinter groups, I know it's important to have a healthy loving relationship, but, get involved in the political process, even at a local level.......... We will only have Freedom, when We realize the foundation of it......... Total Unity, Everyone Involved, not just a few..........

I don't think the future of our country depends out patrism. I feel like other countries are less patriotic and are doing just fine. Our future depends on our leaders and what the people of our country decide to do not how much someone loves the country.

People dont have a clear view of what being patriotic is anymore. The protesters, conservatives, liberals and all of em claim to be fighting for America in one way or another.

I don't think it is patriotism takes many forms older generations show it by flag waving, trying to remain more isolated in world matters and trying to keep the satus quo or even make society go backwards. Younger generations show it through protesting the status quo, trying to push society forward, trying to get more involved in world matters and instead of flag waving it's insulting the government. And as history shows they tend to usually meet up somewhere in the middle through compromise until something else pops up.

Well for example for many years non whites were discriminated against in virtually all parts of our society due to ignorance prejudice and hatred but over the years newer generations kept pushing for newer revisions and changes eventually culminating inthe 60's and 70's civil rights movements and now though some discrimination still exists it's only a fraction of as bad as it used to be. Now the same thing is happening with people of different sexual orientations and varying religions which still face discrimination. I'm not saying only young people do this or only old people try keeping the status qou but on average it seems to pan out this waythroughout history and different societies.
