I have a hard time believing that affairs can be good for any marriage...it just seems to contradict the idea of marriage and give individuals yet another reason to be promiscuous. If you want to be justifiably sleazy, don't get married in the first place.

No. It only concludes you should have never been married in the first place.

For some people. It depends on what you think marriage should be and how secure your ego is. This is hardly a new idea - the concept of "open marriage" has been around for a long time. I think that a lot of marriages end over infidelity when they didn't necessarily have to. I think that many times it's the lies and the betrayal that hurts the worst and this type of arrangement would prevent that. I think, in fact, that a whole lot more people have exactly this type of marriage, but they don't talk about it for fear of being judged.

Hmmm.... Long marriage with affairs.. or a short one without them?

My wife had an affair.. then left me for the other guy... she got what she deserved in the end.

Hitler had affairs... but his life wasn't so long!

In my opinion, that kind of completely negates the entire reason for marriage in the first place.

R u kidding?! That's what marriage is- two people together forever. ONLY 2 people! That's the whole point of being married! There should be no other people in the relationship.

The key to true happiness is constantly re-inventing your relationship with the one you trust most. Gone both routes, plan A obviously didn't work so well. Once you start getting what you think you need outside of the home, the home loses value. Once it loses enough value, the marriage is toast.
