You know what I noticed? its not the year difference its the ages. 17+14=no good 18+15= still no good 19+16=better 20+17=okay okay against the law still but acceptable to a point 21+18=totally legal and chill. I mean my mom is 37?? haha and she dated a guy who's 56. and is marrying a guy who just turned 50 I think. I thought about why.. and its the maturity level. if an 18 year old was dating a 12 a year old thats worrysome.. and wrong. but 22 and 16 is way better then that if you really think about it. hmmm

theres 2 and a half years between me and my partner and we've been together since we were 12 and 14. but when hes had his birthday an di havent, it was like 12 and 15 etc. i think it's ok.

UK law is different to US. we dont have major charges of 'sex with a minor' etc, unless it's paedophillia. it's illegal for anyone over the age of 16 to have sex with a pre-16 girl...but while you're both under 16 i dont know if it's an issue. it certainly isn't as big of a deal over here as it is in the States.

When i was pre-16 and my bf wasn't, there wasn't a whole big deal like there would be in the states with an 18 and a 16 yr old.

i think 14 and 17 is perfectly acceptable

i think society pressures age

I did that, my bf at the time was 17 and i was 14 :) I also dated a guy who was 7 years older than i was (25 and 18). Right now I'm dating a guy a year and a half younger than I am, yet he has the maturity level of an adult haha but anyway...

Age is just a number...yes it has to do with maturity and numbers and what looks right and what's acceptable. Put it backwards though...you (or whoever this relates to) are 14, would you date an 11 year old? haha see XD

I think it's pretty natural. When you're young, five years seems like forever. Then when you're 30 and your partner is 35, not so much of a difference as 13 and 18. I mean, my mom is 10 years older than my dad. They're still together. But SHE was TEN YEARS OLD before HE was even BORN!!!

There is a difference..in experiences. A 14 year old dating a 17 year old is wrong not only on the legal terms but also because the difference in maturity.

if the guy is the 17 year old and the girl 14 then most of the time they are on par with the level of maturity. and the age shouldn't matter because three years isn't that bad.
