Putting aside all the medical problems she may have, having a child 68 years younger than the mum is stupid, we look after our grandchildren and it is hard work and a pleasure to give them back...lmao

Why would anyone want to have a child which they would have no reasonable expectation of being able to rear to adulthood, whether by some miracle of modern science or by adoption? Selfish in my opinion.

I think it is, but if the couple wants to and her Dr. says its ok, I see no reason to not go ahead with it.

If you can get pregnant at 67, it's clearly not too old. I get the whole "You'd be dead before they grow up" crud, but does that matter if you love them completely before you go?

Yeah, it's selfish as hell! By the time your kid goes to secondary(high) school, you'll be 80? Really selfish. How can a kid grow up normally like that?

I don't know about that, a lot of women are waiting until their 40's so that their careers and financial status is such that she can devote all her time to the children without so much being in the way.

And tripleing the chances of Downs syndrome after 40 .

Also keep in mind , AFTER how Bush Jr. left our country ,... the "going out on ones own" around 18 yrs. old , is now averaging 25 yrs. old before leaving the nest = Mom would be 65 yrs. old by the time the Married couple (parents) are relieved of daily care of their kids to enjoy how their marriage was before having kids .
Heck , he might even be in the grave by then , since the male is usually 8 yrs. to 10 older than his wife .

In these days, with all the industrialization, polution, Big Phama, all wrapped up with inmorality, that is a general disregard of human life, makes having a baby after age 40 quite dangerous and foolhardy. It was Sarah, Abraham's wife had a child at the age of 90, but back then we did not have the health issues we have today, only because of greed.

    Way too old.

The only way I can see it even possible is with a lot of medical intervention. First of, there would have to be eggs harvested before menopause and frozen till 67, then fertilized and implanted.

Pregnant at 67 means your 83 when it comes to teaching jr. how to drive, if you live that long. Plus if the women is 67 the man is going to tend to be older making it much more likely the child will be born autistic. Having children late in life = bad idea for everyone.

Why would any 67-year-old mother, or even father, want a baby? I definitely won't when I'm that age, even though men can father babies till they die.

For a number of reasons. First of all most women have already gone through the change by that age. For the one's that have not it would be a very difficult 9 months I would expect and would require constant monitoring. For those, if any, that actually have a baby you then have the issue of having your very own grandchild. By the time that child would be old enough to leave high school you would be in your mid 80's. I can't imagine ever being able to handle a teenager while in my 70's and early 80's. WOW!

Yes, it is too risky at this age and not natural.

But I won't throw the first stone at a women who desires so much a child that she goes against nature. There are some who have too much love to give.

Yes that's too old... great risk of birth defects, complications, you've already lived 2/3 or more of your life... Not a good idea, in my book! embryo

My grandmother is a great-gran and not yet 67...if she was to have a child even now, that would be ridiculous.

I agree! I was thinking that at 67...that would be like having your own great grandchildren! Cut out the middle (wo)men! But nevertheless, it's a great risk to take!

If it is in the name of "SURROGATE" and the older body is healthy enogh to carry a full term pregnancy for a younger woman who is infertile, I personally don't see where there is a problem. I feel that if a woman gets pregnant at 67 and intends to be a mom at that age for the first time or any number of times, I say no. In the case of a SURROGATE, all that is needed is to give birth and move on without additional commitments. Being 67 is not taboo, I just don't think it is an age when a woman should be doing diapers .as a new mommy

Of COURSE it is! There is a darned good reason why women aren't fertile at that age. It's just too bad some of the old farts with arm candy don't realize how stupid they look.

Anyone, male or female contemplating parenthood at age 67: Do you really want to be 80 years old when the kid hits teen years? I'm a teacher, and I can tell you that even though I love my job and the kids, I'm glad not to take them home with me, and I'm not even 67 yet.
