Pretty much. Middle age is a little different for everybody, though, depending on how healthy and active they are.

Not until the average life span reaches 100, and I don't think it has yet. What does it matter? I will be 50 next year and feel great. I have no health problems, jump on a trampoline regularly and play like a child with my hula hoop. Why are people so hung up on biological age?

I don't know how you figure. If I'm turning 80 it seems to me that mid is 40. I know many over the age of 60.

No what i mean is that the average human race the average age is about 60 but some people live over 60 but thats the average and the middle age is 30. Do you get it now?

I thought so when I was fifty, but seven years later it seems more like 30 was MY middle age.

I always though 50 WAS middle aged. Its the center of 100, half way point to the end of human life. I grew up thinking that most people (healthy people) live to be 100 (give or take a couple years). Am i wrong to think that way or is there a NEW lifespan?

Average lifespan of a person in developed countries usually runs from 75-80. The vast majority of the human population will not live to see 100 years old.

But let's hope you're right :-)

I don't agree. If people in a first world country has a life expectancy of 80 supposedly, then middle age is ( or begins at) 40.

When I turned 50 a few years back, it felt more like I was born again in some ways. Chronological age is not always relevant. I told my son that he was catching up with me this year, he gave me a strange look. I said I am 29 going on 55, will always be young at heart. lol I play my guitar & keyboards like I was 25, and I dance better than ever !! I rock out at least 4 nights a week. I drive a Screaming Yellow Mustang. I think 50 is the beginning of middle age for most. What I find interesting is that most all the CRUISE lines give SENIOR Discounts at 55. Sure don't consider myself a senior, but love the discount. Here is a pic of what I consider my Dream Car. Not what my grandma would have bought at my age.

I sure hope it's like this for me! I have read so many women say that their 50s were (are) the best times of their life!! Good for you!

............I believe 40, would signify middle age better than 50, chronologically 50 would be middle age, but I believe 50, is approaching a senior citizen age...........
