    I have three questions:

    1. Did this homosexual young man know the rules before he signed up?

    2. Did he deliberately break the rule?

    3. Is the "You are stupid..." comment, more about disobedience and flaunting authority? Or perhaps the method in which he decided to break the rules?

Many times issues are muddied by so many other factors. Before I blindly make a comment on limited information, I would like to know many other factors such as, (a) how was this man's performance prior to going public about his homosexuality. Had he broken many ohter rules because he didn't feel they were fair or went against the grain? That type of person would not make a very good soldier when obedience is a prime directive. Perhaps he was a model soldier, but I don't know. Was this a "last straw" type of incident? I certainly want more facts before I become inflammatory.

And yet, the government is so stupid in allowing people like that Ft Hood shooter all the slack they can until he killed 13 people. Go figure? As a merc, I led troops that were 50% gay. Good fighters. Had no problem with them. They were hired to fight, nothing more.

So a gay guy gets kicked out while being a patriot and serving to defend his country, while Hassan is still in the military, is openly anti USA and a terrorist, murderer, who got fast-tracked to the rank of major. Got me? Hey generals, what's with that?

I do not support that homosexuality is normal like progressives want everyone to think. BUT I also do not care if someone is homosexual. It is their private business. Our soldiers are under so much stress and they are asked to sacrifice a lot.

Ironically, this policy was instituted by Clinton and liberals lash out at conservatives who are against homosexuality.

I think they should not have discharged this man. If he was a good soldier. He probably should not have done the interview knowing the policy but my God, we need good soldiers.

If this young man is too dumb to understand four little words, "don't ask, don't tell", then he is too dumb to be in the military.
Actually, It's my opinion that the soldier involved will attempt to use this as a sort of test case in order to overturn the policy.

"Four little four letter words, don't ask, don't tell"
First of all sweetheart, ask is not a four letter word. If you're going to insult someone else's intelligence, make sure you're not dimmer than they are.
Second of all, the "don't ask, don't tell" policy is obviously bigoted, not to mention outdated, so why are you getting behind it? And why shouldn't this Iraq veteran try to overturn the policy?

Karen sweetheart, maybe you should concern yourself with the Canadian military and keep your Canuck nose out of our business. I realize in Canada it illegal to say anything that might 'hurt someone's feelings', especially if it concerns homosexuality. I realize that free speech is no longer allowed even in your churches, and that priest and ministers are being prosecuted for their preaching Judeo-Christian values. Canada even has the audacity to sue a U.S. citizen for writing the truth about Canada harboring known terrorists. We have laws and rules in this country and all soldiers should first and foremost learn to follow orders. Don't ask, don't tell is an order. I read Canadian news. Your country is in the toilet and people like you are doing the flushing. Mind your own business, sweetheart.

I love how you assume I'm as stupid as you are for trying to introduce you to equality, and yet you still go back and fix the typo I pointed out.
In Canada, it's not illegal to hurt people's feelings, but it is illegal to persecute a minority group based on pure hatred or concentred bigotry, i.e. the church preaching their slanted, homophobic views on gays.
So sorry you've wasted your life in the closet trying to keep mommy and daddy happy, but I think it's time to face the music. We all know you're a little fanny bandit. But I guess your kind must love having the "don't ask, don't tell" policy to cower behind, don't you?
You read Canadian news, then have the gall to tell me to "keep my Canuck nose out of your business"? Typical American Idiot, clearly. read canadian news gall canuck nose business typical american idiot

The Army, with all DUE respect, has some problems...keep the jihadist, promote and educate him but throw out the gay guy that has done no harm, served his country and fought in a foreign war. Good grief..My son, after returning from Iraqi Freedom, admitted PTSD, begged for help and was told, "The waiting list for PTSD treatment was too long and he was to be deployed for a second tour before THAT would happen...or, he could leave the Army with nothing." Talk about a quandry! Be deployed with full-blown PTSD or be kicked to the streets to deal with it on your own. The Military, bless you and with all due respect, needs a 're-look' at the way these gentlemen are treated within the service.

..these are the times we live in.A brave soldier survives Iraq but gets punished for his sexual preferences , while a SOB of a Muslim officer, who declares to his colleagues his extremists anti American views is allowed to stay in the Service and execute a massacre .The first one unfair judgment ,the last one utterly irresponsible

They really need to get rid of that stupid 'don't ask, don't tell' bullshit.

They are willing to fight for their country, that should be all that matters and it's more than many other people are willing to do!

if they did... they would be opening a can of worms....Way more problems would arise...we can not have that..Don't ask don't tell......isa very good solution..gays can serve and not be chastised..its very simple..don't ask, and don't tell.
