No phone is worth that much! The only reason it's priced so high, is because people are stupid enough to pay that much or even more because they don't have a mind of their own and will do whatever they are told to do that is in style or whatever is cool.

There are a few small brands assembled here, but even they use components made in other countries.

Sure, that is how technology progresses. The idiots that have a lot of disposable income and want to look cool will spend the money, which in turn leads to more innovations that eventually drops the price for the commoners. So spend away, please. I want the cheaper version in a few years when I can afford it.

I don't know who is ordering the iPhone5, yet, but they really should hold off because it won't be selling for $1K with a 2 year contract through a cellphone service provider. It will be substantially less. It had better be...

I will be eligible for an upgrade in a couple months, With the price they will pay for my old iPhone and the cost of the upgrade, I shouldn't have to pay much at all, maybe a hundred bucks or so.

Our contract has us eligible for an upgrade in Sept so since my daughter is the one who uses the most up to date versions the most - she will get it.

My daughter is a PhD candidate - and will, in all likelihood, receive her PhD next spring. Her iPhone and iPad have been critical to her research and time conservation. In addition to writing her dissertation, she teaches several classes to having those items is crucial to her.
