I live in the USA, where the northern states tend to be better off than the southern ones. However, I don't know if northern CA is wealthier than southern CA.

I honestly don't know, but I think the south would generally be wealthier. It's much more densely populated, anyways.
Although, I don't know if the north really counts wealth in the same way, so it's hard for me to tell.

The North and that's a fact.

Financial website 24/7 Wall Street compiled a list that describes the pecking order of richest and poorest states based on U.S. Census data. The poorest states tended to be in the South, while the richest were in the Northeast.

The top five richest states were actually all on the East Coast, except for one — Alaska. True to its state motto, “North to the future,” Alaska may be the land of promise after all.

Yeah, I guess. Jackson Hole is in the northern part of the state as is Campbell County. They're both fairly wealthy parts.

Maryland is sort of long and skinny so North/South is not much difference. The areas around DC are better off, mostly.

I believe their are a few rich folks here in Texas. Oil is big, as are cattle ranches. I really do not know, I don't happen to rub elbows with the elite.

nation wide not sure although I would say no as a lot of the Major businesses seem to be headquartered in either Melbourne or Sydney such as the Mining Company BHP billiton which is located in Melbourne and considering that Melbourne is the sporting capital of Australia and most people would argue there's a lot of money to gain from the sporting industry

on a state level its a definite no
