In R.I. it seems weekly we have a teen Dad abusing his baby......we need a license to drive but not be a Dad ..you can be immature(kind word) jerk..is it same where you live?

    Not sure of the statistics here but I suspect it is the same anywhere. Any man can make a baby but it takes a loving and responsible man to be a father. It seems anymore that those are becoming more difficult to find.

    It's all over the world and not contained to just fathers, mothers as well. With understaffed/underfunded agencies that over-see the welfare of a child, I don't see it changing any time soon and it saddens me.

    Funny thing about that. We don't seem to need licenses to be a mother either but both sexes seem to produce babies without a license. I do believe, in China, they do need a license to produce a baby. But, remember, liberty to the wolf is license to the sheep.

    I don't think abusive parents are a gender-related phenomenon. We hear just as many stories about Moms. Unfortunately, relationships, passion, and sex are difficult areas to legislate. It seems the best we have been able to do, so far, is remove the baby from that environment, hopefully long before permanent damage has been done.
