i think it is a big deal to people when you are in your teens, but once you are past that stage it isnt as big of a deal, for example, people would disapprove of a 16 and 20 year old dating but not of a 24 and 28 year old. but i dont think that age matters pertaining to peoples feelings for each other

You know - if one person is like, 14....you wouldn't like if that child of yours is with someone who's 20+ older, right?

If you truly love them, people should respect that, and it doesn't matter on the age.

and their level of maturity...if we're talking about an adult relationship b/c sometimes they end up having issues b/c one of the partners is more like a parent then the other person in the relationship

I know a lot of people think that age matters but it doesn't. As long as your happy and are comfortable with them then age really doesn't matter. I know a couple that are 11 years apart.

I think a 5 to 10 year range is good, but I sure is heck wouldn't want someone my age dating my mother...Not for the fact that its my mother for the fact he is my age lol. But if my older sister on the other hand wants to date someone my age (7 years apart) then go for it.

It doesn't matter. I have been with people 18 years younger, and 20+ years older at different times in my life. If we have things in common, and we are compatible, then age isn't a factor.

i don't agree with any of your answers.

age difference doesn't matter after a certain age.
    it's different for every opinion.
you see, i hate when 14 year olds date older older guys.
but i don't see the problem with 15 year olds.

age is just a number of how long one has been alive...if anything age brings more wisdom...but even that is not always true...besides who really would care, love is love and there is no age to that...and if its your soul mate does it really matter?

No because it's up to the people dating and no one else, I'm dating someone 12 years younger than myself and we're fine and we both love each other very much.
If it doesn't work out then it doesn't work out and as long as it's 18 plus then it should be all good.

It's not up to you, you aren't dating these girls so it shouldn't matter because it's their lives, not yours.
I'm dating someone 12 years younger and things are fine, we love each other and I'm far from selfish...
If you don't like it then don't date someone like that but don't tell me I can't date someone because you feel "uncomfortable" with it.

No, people have told me it's ok and some have a problem with our relationship but it's not an age issue.
My cousin and her hubby are pretty far apart and He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
There should be no problems as long as the people are 18+, there seems to be plenty of people on here that have dated with a gap in age.
Age doesn't mean a whole lot really as long as the two involved are ok with it.

I had a very good relationship with a friend who was 16 years older. But we were never going to be married. And I am in one now with a young woman, more years younger than I will say, but over 18!, and again we will never marry.

So, I can say that for me a big age difference does make a big difference but does not prevent it from being a good realtionship.

Age is partly physical and partly mental, so while numerical age may have a strong bearing on the physical characteristcs that are often first to attract others, mental age is completely self determined and one can choose to remain youthful or grow old.

So for someone who is more interested in the physical than the mental, then, yes, numeric age may make a difference.

For those who are more interested in the mental aspect, numerical age will have no bearing.

Personally, I usually attract younger men....which works well for me as I find men my age "old"....both physically AND mentally! I'm not against someone my own age, I just haven't met someone who's numerical age was the same as mine and that I was BOTH physically and mentally attracted to and who could allow me to be me.

Bottom line, its not about the birth certificate, its about the attraction and the connection, with the emphasis on the latter.

As for 14 year olds ~ they should be doing their school work and not thinking about this nonsense!!! :0

Hey, we aren't all "old" but I do recognize your issue with finding beauty in others as they age when comparing to someone younger. I often forget how old I am.

Not at all. Some of the best marriages had big age differences, like Bogart and Bacall. He was 45 and she was 19 when they got married. Look at the age difference between Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart..quite a bit. My husband is 9 years older then me and it's never bothered us either.
