If you're a vegetarian/vegan, do you think your parents should make you cook meat for them?

my parents, who are perfectly capable of cooking their own meals, say they respect my decision to become a vegetarian, and yet they still make me cook for them.

what it boils down to is your parents are lazy. tell them to do it themselves not because you're vegan, but because you're not their servant.

My parents are vegetarian too, so I don't need to worry about it.

Absolutely not. If they are coming to your house to eat, they should be prepared to eat what you cook.

My daughter is a vegetarian and I am not. I eat what is being prepared at her home and it is always delicious.

Well, depends for what purpose you became a vegan/vegetarian..If I don't like meat because I respect animals and ending their life would be against my principles, then making me cook the meat should be like insulting my decision to be a vegetarian..

If one of the agreements within the family is that you participate in cooking - then yes. You can turn the question around - if you are a vegan and your parents are not - should they cook only vegan for you?

Yep. If her parents are reasonable and fair your idea will bear fruit. Pun intended.

They should not cook only vegetables for her, but they should cook food that she will eat. It is a sign of respect.

That is how we do it in our family.

Yes. Family chores don't change just because you do. If you became a nudist you'd still have to chip in and do the laundry.

I think that is totally wrong. You should not cook meat at all. They should be willing to eat a great meal at the childs home is they are vetetarian. There are many great meal to be had and one vegetarian mean will not hurt anyone.

We do that regularly in our family. When my daughter comes to visit, I cook meat, but I do make sure there is food that she can eat as well.

Unless you have terribly abusive parents who have you chained in the basement dungeon or something, it sounds to me like the least you could do considering all that they probably do for you.

I would agree but her profile says she is 15 and I would assume that she is still living at home.

If she is living at home, they she really should not even have posted the question. I should have checked her profile.

and why shouldn't i have posted it? i'm not trying to get out of doing household work. there's many other things i could do that would contribute to my household such as washing the dishes or doing laundry, but instead i'm forced to do something that disgusts me
