If you went to Whitney's Funeral today (via electronic media, like me...) What was your favorite part?

Donna Wolf 2012/02/19 06:45:46
So much of the ceremony was moving to me, but my favorite part was Kevin Costner's "eulogy". He was so real and open about his feelings. I just thought he was great. HOWEVER...at the end when the pall bearers elevated the casket to their shoulders and the exact crescendo of the Always Love You chorus...it got chills and broke out into goosebumps...AMAZING! What was your favorite part...

All the singers but specially R Kelly, the Winans, the eulogy, the visual impact of the coffin moving with l Always Love You, Ce Ce walking behind the coffin, the police presence but most of all the mounted police officers.

I didn't see the beginning or the end, but for the most part I thought it was a class
act. My least favorite part was Stevie Wonder, who has clearly lost any voice he
ever had! He could have just given a testiment to Whitney's greatness. And yes, the eulogy by Keven Costner was up close and personal.

My thought on Costner's eulogy was and is: "if you are an actor, why could you not memorize your eulogy"

    Clive Davis was spot on.

I found the pastor to be very disturbing. The eulogy wan't even personalized to Whitney. He made pleas to the public and reporters to join his sermons every Sunday. He said at one point if you don't understand something we are saying we weren't speaking to you anyway. And he talked about having more stars there then at the Grammy's, like everyone else is chopped liver. I found him to be very disrespectful and out for himself. Attention for himself. And I hated seeing Jessie Jackson sitting there the entire time. He's a racist prick.

Interesting opinions. I agree with the Jesse Jackson part (sitting there that is...I have no idea about his anatomy). He even said in a CNN interview, that he and Whitney were not even friends.

It really was a good movie, the young actor (Bud Cort) who stared as Harold was said to have been in a horrific motorcycle accident after the movie. He was in Dogma in the late 90's, I believe he played god.

"Favorite part of a Funeral? Are you sick?"

Me thinks thee doth protest too much... like a chance to put down someone and feel
    superior was important to you!

Nah, I just think we just have different ideas of what constitutes entertainment. Perhaps the "Are You Sick" was a little overdramatic... I will edit it out.

It just sounded a little morbid.

Myabe I'm too sensitive. I guess I would have preferred a "what did you think?" But I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I was rude and it was an unnecessary comment.

Author's Comment...Maybe "favorite part" was a bit mistated...but I was just so moved by Cissy Houston's ability to as the reverend said..."get the whole world to church" under the most tragic of circumstances, I agree, Maybe I should have said..."What was your most touching moment". I stand edited. :)
