If you love someone deeply, how long do you wait for them.....

Over a year ago, I met an amazing woman. We had an immediate connection... We fell in love but the timing wasn't right... She was probably in my life for "a reason" rather than a season or a life time.... and at the end of last summer just as the timing was going to allow us to really explore our love and relationship, she ran away... well, it has been 11 months, and she keeps re-entering my life for various reasons... Since we parted I have become a Reiki practitioner: she would like me to give her treatments. She seeks guidance from me, she shares with me, but also keeps me at arms length. When I get close to another woman, she suddenly appears again, knowing the affect she has on me. She knows I want her with every fibre of my being. She knows that much has changed in the past year, for both of us... life is more stable. She knows that I still hold her dear, and she knows that her fear of abandonment is something I would like to help her work through.... She admits that she still loves me, and has not dated anyone else since we broke up... and I don't understand..... So now, because every woman I date gets compared to her, and can't match up to her... I am giving up on dating..... Krista is who I want to share my life with. I want to blend our families, hold her close, and together grow old and heal the world.... and I'm getting the impression that this is a foolish dream of an aging romantic.... but I just can't seem to let her go..... even after breaking our past life contracts... (we have shared past lives as well.... and had the cords cut from those)... So my question is: how long do I wait in this romantic limbo for a woman who loves me to simply fall in love with me so we can share a happily ever after moment..... ?

    She's playing games with you. She doesn't want you but she doesn't want anyone else to have you either. Selfish and controlling - not the kind of person I'd bank on spending a lifetime with.

    Either she needs to get through her 'skeletons' and get things handled or she's totally screwing with you. This has to be worked-out between you both and not here on SH.

    Sounds like she's got some issues getting close enough for it to be permanent. People float into another's person's life as you mentioned a reason. Maybe the reasons are slow to reveal even if it's been over a year. Maybe she does love you in her own way but folks shouldn't have to work that hard at love and to be together and you did say she knows how she affects you. She may be taking advantage of you.

    Most relationships start with kissing and other advanced stuff.hehe.BUt if shes keeping you at arms length she is not interested in you that way.she might love you like a friend.Gotta know what is in a womans heart , a lot of your energies can be saved.

    I waited two years foe someone trust me if she wanted to be with you she would do whatever it took!!! Life is to short to waste on a person who obviously does not feel as you do.Sometimes no matter how much it hurts we just have to close a chapter in our lives and begin a new one. Best of luck. I know it hurts i know it's hard but believe in yourself and love yourself. When the time is right you will meet who you were intended to share your life with.

    Sorry if this seems harsh but she's toying with you.If you were who she wanted to be with she either would be or working out whatever it is that is keeping her from doing so.A few months ..maybe depending on the circumstance eleven months is much longer than should take anyone who truly desired your relationship to grow.     It sounds as if this person might be having some emotional issues not relating to you or your relationship. With the mental health concerns we have been having in this country, I would run very far away from her, she seems a bit 'off'
