If you have traveled in other countries, have you experienced any cultural clashes that made you uncomfortable?

When I was in China I noticed people pushed ahead of others in lines. It happened so often I asked our tour guide. Apparently it isn't considered nearly as rude in China as it is in the US.

Never once did I experience that when I was in China 8 years ago. I did experience a rather rude group in Indonesia 12 years ago, come to find out ther were a group of rebels that didn't like US Citizens at all.

Not in most European countries but in Russia there was sometimes that all felt very strange. The toilets were often primitive. Not in the cities but outside. So many car breakdowns on the sides of the roads. It was as if they were all trying to keep 25 year old cars on the road with string. Unless we were in the big hotels the food was quite strange. But then I am not very adventurous when it comes to food.

China is becoming a scary place. But they will eventfully fall from their #1 spot. The problems they are creating will be their defeat.
