If you have a friend or a neighbor that has unruly brats that have crayoned on your wall and broken objects in your home, do you confront the parent and tell them outright that their kids are no longer welcome?

If they dont respect my property enough not to destroy it then they dont respect me.

I would confront the parents by talking to them about the issues of what their kids are doing to my home. In the discussion I would inform them that if this behavior continues their kids will not be allowed to come to my house anymore. The reason I would approach it this way is so I can give not only their parents an opportunity to correct this problem but also so I can give their kids another chance before it comes to them not being able to come to my home anymore. The parents might not be aware that their kids are doing these behavioral issues. There is an old clique that is so true to this situation While the cats away the mice shall play. Now some of it may be kids being kids and they will do things like color on the wall with crayons but that I wouldn't make that big of a deal over.

I would never let the little brats in my home in the first place. I have no patience for ill kids. I would have yelled and scared them the first time they broke something and made the parents pay for it. Most kids are afraid of me anyways.

My house is kid proof anyway, All my good stuff is out of sight, Most children know how I am so they know not to act up anyway, And the ones who don't learn real quick, And I have no problem telling parents that your child will mind me, Or all of you can leave,

If you can't do this, consider getting some "assertiveness training". It's often available through health care institutions.

I sure would confront the parent, as I would expect my neighbors to do the same if my kids were acting up and being brats.
Fortunately when my kids were little we could take them to anybody's house, because my kids would sit down next to me or be with their dad. They knew their boundaries from a very young age. They knew there would be consequences for their behavior.

Heck Yeah! Have them lil monkeys clean it up too!

I have done that, and it has caused some hurt feelings. But I figure if they have so little respect for me or my home, they weren't that good a friend anyway.

Fortunatelly for me, my friends are responsible people, who have control over their grandchildren, and children. My best friends little boy broke the bottom of my glass end table, she had told the child several times to move away from the table, but his foot fell across the table and split it half into, I am thankful that he didn't get cut, but he also got a spanking, because his Mother had told him to move, and secondly, she went into her purse and paid for the damages. I have three busy great grandchildren, but when they enter my house I get immediate respect, so, I really don't have this problem. For the most part, when children are misbehaving, Black folks don't have a problem with asking you to put your children in check. That stems from how they were reared. My grandfather use to tell us, if you want to run, go outside, there's plenty of room out there. Running in the house, or rough housing just wasn't permitted.

Parents need to know what their children are doing, and to be responsible for damages that they have done. If the parents make no efforts to check their children, then legal remedies may be taken. If they allowed their kids to vandalize your home, they weren't friends to begin with.

The first time they did it would be the last time. If their parents can't make them behave then they are no longer welcome in my home.

My kids were never allowed to tear up the house, I would certainly not allow someone else's to do it.

Same here! Once my son decided to draw on the walls. Well, he found out how hard it was to clean up his own mess. Last time he did that!!

having children myself, i dont mind if they draw on the walls (i actually encourage my kids to draw). broken objects can be easily replaced or repaired.

I would handle it in a civil manner that lets them know that there kids are not welcome in my house without them while still maintaining there friendship. :-)

Not going to put up with that nonsense - control your kid or leave kid home or I will discipline - parent's choice.
