If it were a bank bag there's the possibility that they know the money is missing and have a way to find it.

Yes, because of three words: "A Simple Plan." I know, I know--the money in that movie was "drug money," not "bank money"....which would only make me want to return THIS money even more.

Probably not. The reward is never as much as what you might have found.

    bank bag
    reward bank bag

    reward
    reward bank bag reward

Hmmmmmmmm, well of course the thought would cross my mind to keep it, but I wouldn't. I believe too firmly in karma, and I am not comfortable with having things that are not truly mine.

Actually had this happen when I was a kid, a buddy of mine found a small deposit bag in a church parking lot and returned it...it was tempting to take a cut or the whole thing but I talked him into doing the right thing.

I think there's a law that if you find something and return it, but no one claims it, you get to keep it. I remember reading an article about a kid who found a diamond engagement ring worth thousands of $$, no one claimed it so he got to keep it. I'd turn it into the police, then wait to see what happened I guess.

    I'd take a finder's fee then return it :)

I certainly would not return it to the bank. Banks have been robbing from the people forever. But I wouldn't deserve to keep it, I didn't work for it. And I do not need money to be happy. I'd probably give it to charity.

I would return it. I don't need a lot of money to be happy, and what I do need, I can get for myself.

    NO! But depends.
If I thought I might know who's it is if legal, I'd return it.
If its stolen from a store or bank, I'll return it.
    If its drug money...its mine.
About a year ago in Indiana on I-70 two highway workers found $130,000 stuffed in a tire along the interstate fence. They turned it in and were awarded $1000. each for their honesty. What happend to finders keepers? The police should have given that money to those two workmen if nobody claimed it within a certain amount of time.
So except for the above comments....I'd shut-up and keep it. honesty happend finders keepers police money workmen claimed comments shut-up

If someone steals from you there is nothing unethical about getting your money back. It's not like we can appeal to the authorities, they're in on it.

Yeah, if it was in a bank bag, with the banks name on it, well yeah. Something is up when it is in a bank bag.

If it's in another type of bag, and had no ID, well yeah, I probably would be keeping it.

If it was from a bank, marked bag or something, hell no. If, on the other hand, it was in a purse or suitcase and looked like it belonged to an actual person, yes I would return it.
