    There might be some believers who are able to find peace and happiness in giving it all over to God and thus not worrying about anything. But the world's population of Buddhists who do not believe in God should more than balance that out.

    I was all for "Yes" ...maybe 10 years ago, but things in my life have moved my opinion closer to "No." I'd like to think that only the righteous have a set of morals, but have seen/heard/read of 'the righteous' abusing it for ill and have as well, seen atheists do good things. I think more people have been killed 'doing God's work' then doing stuff that betters their family, friends, and other human beings' lives.

    Why the **** do people keep baiting those with a religion into sharing their personal views. What value does a question like this add?     There are many things that can affect the quality of your life. I think the belief in God would rank fairly low on the things that will affect your life. I think genetics and the family you are born into are probably two of the biggest factors that will affect the quality of your life.

    God never promised a care free life, as I recall his exact words were, "in the world you will have tribulation"

    Surely the issue is, whether or not you can follow your path through life, in spite of the jeering and sneering of others on the sidelines.
    I do not have an issue in accepting that there could be a god or maybe even gods.
    What I do find wholeheartedly infuriating, is organised religion pretending that any self appointed representatives of a species, as universally insignificant as we humans, could possibly have the feintest insight into any vague notion of what that god thinks or wants. That is the con!

    I can only speak for myself and say my life has been hell. There were times I spent in hell with god and other times without god. I think some of those times with god helped.

    What a person believes is not very important to their happiness. To get a better life, someone must have faith, hope and love. My belief in God gives me faith that things are working together for good, i.e., the world is becoming a better place; this faith gives me hope that the future will be better and the confidence that moral behavior will be rewarded; and this faith and hope permits me to love others even when their actions are not consistent with what I believe is "right". When I did not have faith, hope, and love, I was worse off. So I am reasonably confident that faith, hope, and love make everyone's life better. Perhaps a person can find faith, hope, and love without God but I didn't.

    How do you know this to be true? Without knowing God you can not determine the happiness felt by knowing him isn't different or greater than that felt while denying him!
