My Grandmother, Mable Madison. She was my heart, it became a bit calloused the day she died in 94'. I loved her and was more close to her than anyone I've ever known. She worked for a place called Dormeigher's, a factory that made many different ac adapters for many different appliances. She wasn't wearing any sort of particle mask or gloves, and handled very harsh, toxic chemicals that where used to treat the wiring and plastic involved. She died of a basketball sized tumor within her gut. By the time we realized something was wrong, she secumbed to her cancers and died. I truly miss her still, and wish that I could never, ever forget the way her house smelled of coffee in the kitchen, potpourri of various scents in each bathroom, lavender in her bedroom, rosemary in the livingroom. Many more memories of her own recipes, such as her special snickerdoodle doughnuts, her french toast, her homade sausage, her spin on chocolate chip cookies that made them become standalone in quality. How no matter how bad you feel, she could just stop you from feeling that way by immediately handing you what you didn't know that you DID want, this way she would rub your shoulders would immediately put you to easy, and her general energy was just so genuinely one of a kind and gentle yet strong. I miss her greatly.
I wish I could have met your grandmother. She sounds like she was one, warm, loving and amazing woman. And from reading what you have written, I know you miss her so much! I'm so sorry you lost someone so special to you. She is greatly loved.
She had a thing for tomatoes and bell peppers. She grew many varieties, and she also grew many kinds of squash. She loved to cook, and she made sure to tend it everyday she had something growing.
I LOVE BELL PEPPERS!!!!!! On my pizza, Italian dishes, stuffed peppers!!!! And I used to love eating tomatoes with soy sauce!! (found out tomatoes are bad for your joints, especially if you're a typist) I hope I meet your grandma in heaven someday! The two of us will have a lot to talk about!!
She is there now. I hope so too, where my grandparents lived they never really got much company. Middle of an Illinois corn field! Still, they where a happy pair, and she was your typical old school American stay at home wife. She had other habits, such as selling Avon and the garden and sewing and lottery and such, but she used to play solitary all day, and could tell within ten or so cards if the round was beatable.
Oh my! You know, I always wanted to be a full-time wife and mom! Of course, my life didn't turn out that way. But that was my "American Dream." The more I hear about your grandma, the more I like her! I hope she waits for me!
I would love to spend another day with my Daddy. He died way too young (49) and left a hole in my heart. He was the sweetest, dearest man in the world and a wonderful, patient, loving Daddy. He has been dead for 39 years, and I miss him every day.
I'm so sorry you lost someone so special to you. She is greatly loved.
I hope I meet your grandma in heaven someday! The two of us will have a lot to talk about!!
I hope she waits for me!
