Well Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I don't expect anyone to pay for except me unless I have grants...G.I.Bill etc..... but that is the responsibility of the individual. Not the Government's Responsibility.

If someone says well the Government should pay off my student Loans....

OK... Show me where in the Constitution that the Government should?

Problem with America is No one is willing to assume responsibility for their own loans, debts and that is why there is so much bankruptcy...OK granted Unemployment, Medical reasons I understand all of that... I am talking generally....

Same goes for Relationships....or anything else in life... It all boils down to Accountability, and Responsibility.

    The Reality:

An educated workforce who can get good jobs (yes, this requires the taxpayer's dollar).

    or

An uneducated workforce limited to minimum wage on welfare.

    You must choose one.

But I think the issue here is how much. When I went to the university of Ca, it cost about $400/quarter for my school fees. Now it costs as much as my private medical school cost. Going to college should cost less than a house - which is now no longer something that most of us can no longer aspire to own. I don't have a plan, but we need to find a way to make education affordable.

I guess I was one of the lucky one's.
I remember paying for my college, working full time, and raising a family.
Today a kid looks at the G I V E R M E N T to supply their education, pay for their bills, and still let mom and dad support them.
I guess I must have been raised in a very evil time of this country's like. The 40's, 50's and 60's were so much in the, as my grandkids tell me, STONE AGE...we had nothing...
But they fail to remember my generation invented everything so they would not have to for there next generation.

Colleges should be subsidized by the government so they are affordable to all people to be able to attend.Students should not be burdened with horrific loans after they finish college. In many other countries students have very little in loans and these countries have a well educated societies.

I believe you should be willing to pay for it. However, that is a different question from, is college too expensive? I paid my way through college using a variety of grands loans and scholarships. I still ended college with a 10K deficit. That's not too bad compared to other people I talk to who have loans ranging from 20k to 100k.

I like Thomas Jefferson's idea on education in that it should be free to all.

I think everyone has a right to education. If you can choose between a decent meal every day or going to college, you are still ABLE to pay for it, but I don't think you want to make that choice.

Yes, everyone has the right to a decent education.
HOWEVER many want the taxpayers to PAY for that education. Once that degree is obtained they can sit on their butts and collect welfare claiming they have the education but no one wants to hire them....FLIP BURGERS AT LEST IT IS A LIVING AND YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO SOCIETY.

Sister I see it everyday here where I live.
There are certain ethnic kids, that run the streets all day and all night...and get totally upset when someone questions them about why they are not in school.
I taught in Cleveland and sister believe me A CHILD WILL LEARN ONLY IF HE WANTS TO LEARN.
I have see Blacks fail, I have seen Hispanics fail, I have seen Whites fail, I have even seen Arabs fail.
If you don't want to learn something there is nothing on the earth that make you do so...and Dear Mother Mary do NOT even mention God to them the go totally ballistic.
The way they discrespect some of the Sisters here and the Priests they need to have a good horse whipping.
In my younger day I can remember defending some of the Jesuit Priests here in Toledo and many of the Sisters of Charity, I have the scars to prove it and excuse the term but DAMN IT I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.
I wanted to be a priest in the worst way in my younger days but was told that I could not ever be as I was a convert, come to find out in my senior years that I assumed the Catholic religion to honor my step dad the only father I ever knew.
I am to old to be baptized but I will go to my grave a Catholic the only thing is I will not be able to receive the last rites.
But that don't make me mad I know in my heart that...

Talk to an economist, and they would agree that if tuition is low, many more have an opportunity for higher education. Then many more can afford to buy houses, travel, pay more in taxes themselves and in a way pay back society for their education.Otherwise you have an uneducated society, that cannot buy homes, and pay little in taxes for they work at dead end jobs.

Hmmm, low tuition......Obviously you have no clue the amount of money it takes to educate someone going to college.
If you live on campus, and you have to the first year...it costs a bundle, books even used ones can run you a good $2000 depending on your Major.
And trust me those teachers that belong to the UNION are not going to teach pro bono.
So can we have a ballpark figure on what you feel is a Tuition that is LOW ENOUGH?

What I am saying is that tuitions, not living expenses should be subsidized by the government, and tuitions also could be less than they are now.Look at the advantage of more going to university and walking out will owing little in tuition.A graduate could easily earn $30,000 more per year then a person that does not go because of high tuition costs. Over ten years only that is $300,000 more that goes into the economy.Because of the fear of high tuition people would earn much less and spend much less.
PS. I have gone to college and know how much it costs, and my tuition was subsidized by the government so my tuition was very small.

Again I am a taxpayer and feel I am paying enough for these slackers.
I had to bust my butt all my life to have what I have. My father before me did the same and his father, and his father.
Kids have NO CLUE what it is like to be on their own to be earning a living have a daughter that is leaching off us now in our retirement years...We paid for he school. we even set her up in a business, that lasted about as long as from there to here, we raised her 2 brats AND STILL THE GIRL WANTS MORE...but guess how she votes....YOU GOT IT DEMOCRAT.....and she receives money for living here plus foodstamps for her kids....AND HE DAMN CASE WORKER INFORMS US THAT IT IS OUR DUTY TO SUPPORT HER ALL WE CAN....
Well, sir I am here to say I AM TIRED OF SUPPORTING THESE BASTARDS AND THE PRINCIPLES THEY STAND FOR.
Look you want to support everyone in this country that is your business....but I for one am sick and tired of it....
I earned my money the old fashion way ONE DAMN PENNY AT A TIME....and what have I got to show for it family wise....9 sons and daughters with values and one that has the values and morals of a slug.

I have my MBS from Cleveland State....I paid for every damn thing there from Labs to books.
My parents raise me to STAND ON MY OWN TWO FEET AND NOT RELY ON A DAMN PERSON OR GOVERNMENT TO GIVE YOU ANYTHING.
I earned it all. Could my parents afford it....BUDDY IF YOU KNEW MY LAST NAME YOU WOULD NOT EVEN ASK THAT QUESTION.
Nasty reply?????????????????????????? I think not....THE TRUTH oh yes. See people in certain political groups cannot stand to have it told like it is....such as in your case....did I go to your link............no........as I felt it would just lead to an argument from someone that is not equiped to be argued with.
Now, do you know WHY most cannot afford a home or college today? Pal, you wanted the truth your going to get it......THEY ARE TO DAMNED LAZY TO GET IT, THEY WANT MOMMY AND DADDY TO GIVE IT TO THEM...AND THEY WOULD MUCH RATHER SUCK OFF THE TITS OF THE GOVERNMENT THEN TO EARN A DECENT LIVING.
They feel the damned world owes them a living.....well pal it don't work that way......
do the math and research like I do and be open minded about things insteat of thinking like some dumb assed Liberal that just drank the Kool-Aid.

I went and I paid. My daughter went on a scholarship and we paid the rest. My granddaughters college is already paid for through our state program that you buy when they are born called the Florida Prepaid Program. If they don't go you get your money back or you can transfer it to a sibling. You can pay one lump sum or payments based on their age when you start.

If kids borrow the money to go to college they should make sure that the degree that they pursue will be enough to pay what they borrowed back.
