If "working" as a porn star is legal work, why is "working" at prostitution illegal?

I must give credit to another SH who asked this question on another poll as a response to the poll question.
Ok, I know from the start that the legal porn system is a part of the "entertainment" industry, but the sex acts are the same.
I understand where the religious people and the moralists will come from here, since they are against pre-marital sex, adultry, and all of that, but many people just do not accept abstinance and believe that casual sex is okay.
What is the real difference between a "one-night stand"--hey, we went out, we wined-n-dined, had a "great time" and wound up back at your place and "had a great time," and prostitution?
The end result is that a one-night stand--which is legal--resulted in spending $100 for sex and that prostitution--for the same $100--also resulted in sex.
What's the difference?

$100 is expensive.... for a meal or a screw.... maybe I'm just old fashioned....
Had a guy tell me yesterday he wasn't that easy.... needed dinner and a movie... I said I have tv dinners and netflix.... turns out... he was that easy....
=P
With prostitution- one party pays the other for sex- dating and dinner is optional- but probably not preferred because the prostitute probably wants to get back to making more money.
The line between prostitution and porn is finer- but at least technically- the people in the movie are actors- and the purchaser of the porn is only purchasing images of sex- not the real thing
I used the question to point out an absurdity, which is, if you and I go out tonight, my treat, and we feel like having sex afterwards, that's fine and legal and socially acceptable. No one is hurt, life is good, and we may move on with our lives. No one thinks less of you, no one thinks less of me.
However, if you were standing on the corner, I stopped and asked "What's up?" and we skipped the night out and instead, I gave YOU the money I would have spent ON a night out with you, and we had sex, somehow we have both broken the law and could be arrested and branded with socially unacceptable names ("John" and "Whore") and behavior. I am at a loss as to why this is so. It is absurd.
I meant no offense. I am just in support of legalized "prostitution." To be honest, what I am in support of is a woman's right to earn a living however she may. Legalizing prostitution I would hope would take away a hazardous life and replace it with a better one and take away the stigma of earning a living however one chooses without society condeming you for doing so.
If you look at the model that Amsterdam supplies, I believe we could adopt that here. Nevada has legalized prostitution outside of Clark County, and that seems to work. I'm just at a loss as to why we can't find a better way to do things here.
How bout the other option! Make porn illegal, keep prostitution illegal. I know, it'll still happen, but there are some who aren't so quick to break the law and ignore their conscience! Maybe just maybe, respect would be gained when it comes to a "woman" as well.
What good could come from legalizing prostitution? Money?
Why guys are alowed to look for only sex and we have to look for a relationship?
Try travelling alone 8 months a year for your job, shoul I become a nun? I don't think so. If I met a guy and I'm atracted to him, I'll sleep with him, only because I'm free, young, healthy and with hot blood in my veins, everybody needs some action from time to time, no attatchment or feelings mixed!!
The porn stars are also paid by a third party. The "actors" don't pay one another for sex.
