If we removed all profanity, would certain people loose the ability to communicate at all?

I don't think I could go an hour without swearing. I love it. Makes me feel awesome when I am swearing about something that pisses me off.

I wouldn't be to happy about it. Yes, I have a very nice vocabulary, but cussing just feels so good sometimes. They're just words, get over it.

I wish we would, I was recently hearing a line and it goes something like this. (fictional of course) L:Why won't you die?!
    E:Stop your howling'stabs L'
L: Heh so the old hound still has some bight left.
I don't know about you but that sounds pretty good as those two hate each other. See how less vulgar it is yet the meaning is still behind those words. I wish our language had that.

I work with a surgeon that's like that. He is a real jackass to the staff but his patients adore him. I will admit he is an excellent surgeon but I get tired of hearing "effing this" and "effing that" through a whole procedure..

I have to laugh. You have the spelling Nazi . Which I think is rude. But people can say the foulest words and no one says anything.I would rather look at a misspelled word, then read the F word constantly.

My father-in-law for one. Revolting language and anger outbursts. He has even terrified waitresses when we've been out. It was so bad one time, that a few of the male patrons rose to defend the waitress from his attack. I would smack him down, but then my wife would be on me like white on rice. He refuses to behave decently.

My opinion is that if profanity did not exist - given the polls you have been posting - you wouldn't have any polls to post.

Cuss words are mostly empty cyphers that usually gain imprecise meaning when they embedded in a sentence. They often have more impact than true meaning.
They can add impact on occasion but since so many people use them regularly in the most trite and cliched way people are mostly desensitized to them.

I believe very definitely that some people have let the smut talk so into their lexicon that, in fact, they would not be able to speak without cursing. I thank Hollywood and their "Let's make movies real" syndrome. However, for all the realness they profess, have to admit that I have spent a lifetime living here and abroad with many different kinds of people and that kind of talk just doesn't come up. I find it extremely distasteful that some just assume expletives are all right to use around anyone.
