Just curious, what State requires its citizens to have a 'card' in order to have a firearm in their home? Here in New Mexico and Colorado the law says 'have at it'.

Out here in Illinois you have to have an F.O.I.D. (Firearms Owner I.D.) card in order to purchase any kind of fire arm or ammo. Even black powder.

Amazing. I live in Colorado, commute to New Mexico (where I work) and just last year purchased the first two pistols I have ever owned. I went to the county sheriffs office, told them what my intentions were in being a firearm owner, and they told me, respect the firearm, take safety classes, then practice, practice., practice. As for having it on your person, in both states, as long as it's visible from three points of view (front, rear and side) I can carry it, no questions asked. Believe me, I would feel a little silly walking around with a Ruger 40C hanging out of my pocket, and here's the kicker...I'm no Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) yet being able to have that pistol close, gives me a smidgen more confidence in a last resort of self defense.

In order to transport weapons here the weapon has to be in a gun case in the cab of your vehicle and the ammo has to be carried in the trunk away from the weapon so you can't load it quickly.
