I have mixed emotions. I like to think I learned lessons from them and to have a take back would mean I would have to go through the painful experience to learn again

It was nice, but it would have been nicer if it had been longer. Long enough to know.......the would have's or could have's or even if it was a no go & I don't think the time was there to make a call on any of these.

I've accepted my part, but to be honest I don't think I had a big part in it, not in the 'leading up to' but yes I did in the finalization of it. I haven't quite accepted, or moved on yet, but that's all part of the process...in time...

since you had a big part in the finalization, there should be comfort that you made the decision, you had the control of whether it ended or not, should help you accept it. therefore should give you what you need to move on. Basically, everyone has two choices to consider. Do I stay or Do I go. Once those have been satisfied and a decision has been made,then you move on to acceptance

I take full responsibility for the finalization but that doesn't mean there's comfort, because the above questions still linger. So no that doesn't help me accept it either. The decision of staying or going is not easy, it's not just that cut & dry. Sure I made the decision to end it but I didn't get there alone. I feel like the actions of the other person left me with no choice but to end it.

I suspect he feels badly and probably wishes he could have a take back. Maybe he didn't feel he deserved a take back or perhaps he didn't feel he deserved you. Or a 3rd possibility, he deidn't want to hurt you anymore. Sounds like one of you needs to be the adult and have a conversation with the other..
