Of course. No need to be rude. Besides, love your enemies, it really messes with their heads.

If I merely think you are in idiot? I'll say hello.

If I actively do not like you - I'll totally ignore you.

If I dislike you - you've probably done something egregious to me and are deserving of my disdain. I'll ignore you as though you don't exist for me. Which is kind of the point. You don't matter any more, why say hi?

I have no problem being cordial with the worst of them. I might even talk with them a little. They may never know that I really could care less for their presence.

But if a friend did something that upset me It depends on what they did and how fresh the offence is. And whether or not they sincerely apologized or not. If they really upset me and are arrogant about it, I will probably not acknowledged that they said anything much less even that they are there. and just go about my way. After time goes by I might say answer hi but would not stop to talk with them.

you may not like someone, but that doesnt mean you have to be rude, if they are being sarcastic be extra nice, peeves them off. hehe. if they are genuine and say hi, whats the point in being rude. be a better man/woman. wouldnt stop for a chat though. not that nice, lol

    Roundhouse kick.
Just kidding, I say hi back, but I try to avoid a conversation without making it obvious that I'm doing that.

I don't have a hard fast rule on that. Usually I try to keep a minimum of civility. But it depends on the person and why I might have a reason to not even speak "hello" civilly.

It's just being polite. Some folks may not know that you don't like them. You don't have to engage them in conversation by returning a greeting.

It really kind of depends on what mood I am in and how much I dislike them and for what reason but generally I disregard people I do not like, to do otherwise I feel would be two faced. That said, there are situations where I have to bite the bullet so to speak.

Got a few problems at the moment couple of friends of mine have recently been diagnosed as having cancer. One has breast cancer and the other bowl cancer and of course they live alone so I am running about like a loony, walking dogs and feeding them and talking to and feeding birds in between hospital visits etc.....So, my life is in a little chaos at the moment, Shirley!
  • Shirley Joe61 2012/02/10 00:05:53

I'm sorry to hear that -- for your friends and for you. It can be very demanding...I just went through the same sort of thing with my sister -- it's a lot of running around, trips to the hospital, meals to prepare... Of course, she's always there for me too.

You're a good friend, Joe, to step in like that. Glad to see the poet has returned!
