Of course you probably don't but I was riding with a friend today and he did just that, when I asked why he said to teach the jaywalker a lesson, not to hit but scare him a little.

When driving I rarely have an occasion when a pedestrian pisses me off, but when being a pedestrian I have been almost hit a few times when drivers are making turns and not paying attention. In fact the only time this has happened is when I am in the crosswalk crossing with the light so I actually feel safer "jaywalking".
Tell your friend that being in control of a speeding machine that weighs a few thousand pounds is no game! Also, tell your friend that nobody died and made him the Jaywalking Police.
When driving, your friend's job is to get the car to its destination safely, without hurting himself, his passengers, or anyone else (drivers and passengers) on the road. That's his job. Nothing else.
