No, because how can I savor something didn't earn or build myself? I don't want things to just fall in my lap. I want things to really be the way they are because of me.

Because then I would want more then what I already have. It would be an endless circle of wanting and discontent. I see that now. I get an Xbox, the 360 comes out, I get that, the I want the PS3, then I want the WII, then I want the games. Endless cycle. endless circle discontent xbox 360 ps3 wii games endless cycle

I think that if everything I wished for in my life had come true, I wouldn't be nearly as happy as I am now.

Absolutely not. Merely existing entails a longing for what you do not have, and a fear of losing what you do have. These phenomena could just be contingent properties, however, but they are central truths to our existence as physical (human) beings.

Because I don't ask for much.
But then... When you get what you want and already have it, then you tend to want more...eventually you'll continually have the next best thing and it will no longer be exciting.

I think I will be fine just getting the few things I wish for.

All the "things" in the world can not make you content.
I think I'd rather have a satisfied mind.

    I don't know what I want...................

I wouldn't be sure what to ask for -- after the fact, I couldn't be content because I would wonder whether or not I made good choices. Then, even if I did get everything I wanted, I would feel selfish and horrible, ashamed that I took care of my wants knowing that so many others don't have what they need.

By nature one would be inclined to always want more if they had already gotten everything they wanted.

I'm enough of a realist to know that for every action taken (wish granted) there would be unforeseen side effects that would need to be corrected.

Even wishing for enough $$$ to live on has the side effect of raising your taxable income....

Damn! You beat me to the idea of wishing for contentment!

There's plenty of stuff I'd like to have.
But what drives me is the need for human contact. Human interaction. Human connection. Things that aren't stuff.

I don't know... I think I like having those dreams and hopes because even though not all of them will come true, just thinking about the possibility can bring a person joy... and without hopes and dreams, you might get bored.
