You do know the word god was not in the original pledge of allegiance, right? It was put in in 1954, years after it's original creation. Taking it out of the pledge is really not that big a deal, either, since the founding fathers were not Christian, but deists.
Now, as for the holiday stuff, Independence Day is not a religious holiday, so there's no reason to equate it to one. And some of the holidays aren't even celebrated strictly by religious people anymore. They've become watered down to being consumerist holidays. Sorry, but it is the truth. Easter and Christmas are no longer strictly Christian holidays. Halloween has been changed from its original celebration. Those are really the only ones celebrated by everyone, be they a religious person or not.
I wonder if some people are going to try and take away our traditional Holidays? Since they want to take God out of the pledge alliance. Do you think they will go as far as getting rid-of the 4th of July holiday as well?

I didn't say Mother's and Father's day were religious holidays.
