I'm 15 years old and am a freshman in high school. However, I am 6' 2", and weigh 216 pounds and gaining. I have a real bad habit of just eating bad foods. I don't know what to do but I would like to stop looking like the freakishly tall chubby kid. I need help on finding a good diet, and maybe even some dietary supplements that can boost metabolism while curbing your hunger? Now here is the kicker, about a month ago I had a very sever pilonidal cyst. I had surgery on it but it has yet to be fully sealed. This means it's still open. This in case has taken me out of P.E. for my high school for showering purposes and stuff like that. I am able to do stuff but can't get around to it. All I have at home is a bench with some small barbells, an eliptical, and a treadmill. Is there anyone that has gone through something similar and or has had difficulty losing weight? Please give some suggestions.

A great way to boost yoru metabolism is to eat spicy foods. The rush of heat increases your blood flow, which increases your metablolism. Also, avoid these things like the plague: Hydrogenated Oils, Canola Oil, Margarine, Substitute fake butter. Great stuff to eat while on a diet is Sweet potatoes made like a baked potato and put a very small cube of butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Rice and stirfry is also very great, if you avoid the fatty sauces. Eggs, avocado, Veggie oil, Nuts and coconut oil are REALLY great for a fat burning diet. Avoid sugar, and try to regulate the processed foods you eat. Artificial sweeteners, High fructose foods, hydrogenated oils, processed soy products all destroy your liver, so those are also good too avoid.
More tips: Drink lots of water and you will drop weight on that alone. Eat lots of fruit and veggies to supply the nutrients you need and then your body will have no need to store fat....

It's best to have your drinks "on the ice" because the coolness will feel much more soothing on the body. Snack every 3 or 4 hours instead of having 3 large meals a day and then you don't eat as much because your body will already have food digesting and it's much easier on the body then having to stop digestion, start up again, stop, start (just like saving gas in your car. You use mroe gas in a city from having to stop, go, turn off and back on). Spice yoru foods up. Eat lots of protiens. Your body will need to work harder to break down protiens, which will increase your metabolism (foods such as fish, lean beef, turkey, white meat chicken, tofu, eggs, nuts, beans, low fat dairy products). Black coffee (no sugar or cream) or green/oolong tea are also great to increase metabolism. AVOID CRASH DIETS. Those are the worst for you. Move alot throughout the day to keep metabolism always up. :) I have LOTS more tips, so if you want more, just private message me! :D Hope I helped!
I would make no other changes at first. After 3 months I would then consider adding weight lifting and re-assessing my food intake.
Best of luck.
[editiorial comment -- the whole pilonidal cyst thing sucks. You will be prone to recurrence for a while, most people grow out of it before they turn 40. Oh, one other comment: you should look up how your body made these, it's kinda cool, involves embryology and stuff. Think origami gome wild]
Get friends and family involved. Ask your parents to pick healthier options or shop with them and get them to watch their portions too. Maybe get a friend to exercise with you. Outside influences like friends and family are a huge contributor to weight gain and loss.
Try taking a multivitamin daily, sometimes we over-eat when our body is telling us it's missing something nutrient wise.
If you are like me, not very athletic or athletically coordinated, try light exercises. Cardio is simple and very effective and you don't have to push yourself to the point of exhaustion. Many people assume the only way you see results from exercise to push till you drop, but light moderate exercise is just as effective if done regularly.
If it is lack of food try eating light snacks, dried fruits/fresh fruits, nuts, veggies, ect. during your morning break if you have one. Healthy snacks are great to help boost metabolism and keep away unwanted junk food cravings.
Eating a larger breakfast with healthy snacks and a light dinner are usally a good idea to try.
