    Holding the door for people.

Letting someone with only one or two items go ahead of you when you have a whole basketful.

Holding the door and elevator for people.

Giving up your seat or taxi for the elderly, disabled, or mothers (pregnant women too)

Not yelling across public places to get someone's attention.

    Hmmm, lets see.....
Saying "Bless you" when someone sneezes.
Not answering your phone when out on a date or with friends.
Not talking in a movie theater.
Dressing nicely to go out in public places.
How often you wash your clothing, bed sheets, etc.
    Brushing your teeth every day.
Hair & clothing styles in certain neighborhoods or parts of the country.
Using phrases that you've heard before ("If it was a snake it woulda bit me," "But its a dry heat," "Different strokes for different folks," etc.)
    Shaking hands when greeting someone.
Being polite. (& what is considered polite in different areas of the country/world)

As you know, there are several types of norms: Mores are norms that have or that create a social value (They shape the society.), and folkways are norms that can go against social norms but have no real impact or value. Laws are generally created from social values or mores (Lying under oath, Stealing a car.)
Some Mores norms: "Honesty is the best policy" "Not cheating on tests" "saying thank you as an expression of appreciation"
Folkway norms: "burping loudly in public" "cutting in line" "walking on the right side of the sidewalk" "Interrupting others when they are speaking" "women shaving their legs/underarms is accepted in America" and also, "women NOT shaving their legs or underarms in America"
    Hope this helps!

If there was a normal person in this world they would stick him/her in a zoo, so the rest of us could see what normal really is.

The point is: Normal is an abstract and varies between cultures, religions, and personal preference, amongst other things.

How far to stay back when someone is at an ATM?

I think different stores of the same chain have different norms on:

    - One line or multiple lines
    - do you put the divider in between you and the person in front or between you and the person behind

(these can vary as little as a few miles away)

I thought they were teaching in public schools that there are no "norms".
My norms come from what my parents taught me and what god has taught me.

When you enter an elevator, it is expected that you turn around to face the doors. It would be a social norm violation to enter the elevator and remain facing the rest of the people.

    Other norms

Not picking your nose in public

A man not scratching below his waist in public

Washing your hands after using the toilet

Leaving a tip for the wait staff

Not talking with your mouth full of food

    not passing gas in public

Walking on the right side (your right) of a crowded hallway

    Here are some norms

Chewing food with your mouth closed, speaking softly and not yelling, being courteous to others, not running over pedestrians with your car...but I really don't understand the question :-)

Well there's my Uncle Norm to start with. Then there is Norman Rockwell, Norman Oklahoma, and lots of Norma's too. If you want what is normal then you will have to be specific because I have found the norm to be quite elusive from one place an dculture to another.
