I went to my dermatologist yesterday and got caught up in the Parada del Sol in Scottsdale--a yearly event for the "West's Most Western Town"--the town that is a city, that kicked a western-themed park out of Scottsdale, that decided it wasn't a good idea to waste land (money?) on horse trail throughout the city as it had planned for 20 - 30 years, and a city that wants a great horse facility for horse shows and polo but wants them to pay so much for the facilities they don't book the grounds.

the local parades are the only ones I've ever seen. I figure one of these days, I need to find an excuse to go to California so I can see the Rose Bowl parade. Some years ago, I got to help work on one of the floats, but I didn't get to the see the parade itself.
