Here in the midwest, cabinets & cupboards are same thing. A closet is something that you hang your coats up into and the definition of pantry is a closet or small room usually off of the kitchen where food is stored and kitchen utensils are stored. So, if you want to keep your PB in your cabinet, go ride ahead, but I have a PANTRY where I keep mine.
Actually, I keep it in my dreams now. About three years ago, I developed an allergy to peanuts. Doc said that I've probably always had it, but came into contact with something that set it off. I don't know how I've always had it, I was raised on peanut butter. I remember racing home from school to get my grandma's left over tortillas to eat with PBJ. I took a bit of one about two weeks ago and didn't sleep for two days until I couldn't take it any more and told my wife (a nurse) and she shot me with benedryl that put me out and cured me. lol It won't happen again.
If by closet you mean, a pantry or kitchen cabinet. I used to keep it in the pantry. In this house, it's in the cabinet closest to the toaster. I'm the only person in my family who eats it, and I only eat it on toast.
